Job Title: Vaccine Cold Chain System Technician
Location: Lagos
Purpose of the Position
The Vaccine Cold Chain System Technician will be responsible for providing technical support in the deployment of vaccine refrigeration systems used by public health clinics and other facilities across Nigeria
S/he will support the IT team in the operational functions of vaccine refrigeration system and ensures system operations at full capacity
S/he will also demonstrate a high degree of technical knowledge and independence to complete tasks and proven experience working in the field.
What you’ll do
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned:
Responsible for the planning, coordinating, monitoring and evaluating cold chain activities in Health units
Prepare reports, requisitions and account for vaccines equipment and other allocated resources
Participating in programme researching, monitoring and evaluation activities
Oversee the safe custody of the vaccine cold chain equipment and maintain their functionality
Manage all on-site installation, maintenance, repairs and testing tasks to ensure proper documentation of all related processes and provide completed paperwork to users
Diagnose errors, technical problems and proffer accurate solutions
Produce timely and detailed service reports utilizing training, service manuals, and computerized tools
Collaborate with technical team members and share information across the organization to build positive relationships with clients and coworkers
Satisfy customer needs by supplying recommendations and briefings using appropriate field automation systems, procedures, and protocols
Maintain user satisfaction through creativity and ingenuity to investigate inquiries, identify resolutions, suggest enhanced operating techniques, and recommend system improvements.
Advise users on the correct operation of cold chain equipment to enable them to utilize the appliances correctly.
Ascertain that outsourced engineering services have been done to the satisfaction of the Organization.
Manage inventory of work tools, spare parts and consumables related to maintenance and repair job routines
Manage repair and maintenance costs within budget.
Identify any risk(s) noted during the course of execution of your duties and formally report to your manager.
Use of proper safety procedures diligently and demonstrate a constant awareness for personal safety and safety of others
Who You Are
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required to successfully perform this job:
A minimum of Bachelor's Degree from College or University in Computer Science Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics or any related field.
A minimum of 2 years experience in commercial refrigeration
High-level ability to test, troubleshoot, service, and repair refrigeration equipment.
Professional certification in ICT will be an added advantage (Refrigeration and /or trade certification).
Be proficient in the use of a computer system running a Windows operating system and Linux operating system.
Must understand the cold chain refrigeration control systems and wiring.
Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Understanding of immunization/vaccine supply chains
Must be familiar with terminal emulation programs like Teraterm
Must be able to use a multimeter for basic electrical/electronics troubleshooting
Must be willing to travel to various locations across the country on short notices.
