Job Title: Senior Manager, Power Management

Job Description
To provide strategic direction for and manage the design, planning and implementation of all mechanical and electrical systems at all MTNN installations (Network sites and office buildings) and provide support to all satellite earth stations.
To provide strategic direction for and manage the operation and maintenance of all mechanical and electrical systems at all MTNN installations (Network sites and office buildings) and provide support to all satellite earth stations.
Extract value from what we already have through divisional focused commercial activities such as: divisional business optimisation projects, contracts review and negotiation, capital/budget efficiency activities within division, etc.
Innovation – identifying and taking advantage of new business opportunities, e.g., through stimulating new business opportunities, divisional products launched, division product/process innovation, structural changes within division, etc.
Maintain leadership in the ICT/Digital industry by influencing state/local legislations & policies, participating in local level industry think-tanks, building & extending national B-2-B and similar relationships, etc.
Enhance/expand MTN’s role in the larger national and ecosystem through participation as a thought leader, executing local CSR projects, involvement in local industry non-ICT policy & think-tank activities etc.
Divisional people leadership activities: coaching, staff development and motivation through intra staff coaching, employee networks mentorship/support, own division employee engagement projects, faculty roles, inter/intra talent mentorship, etc.
Generic activities necessary for positive business outcomes such as: supporting recruitment, thought leadership as internal (interview/disciplinary) panel member, influencing next level leaders (e.g., at BPR) etc.
Develop detailed plans in support of approved strategies in respect of Power Planning unit, organizing required resources, monitoring and periodically reporting progress of plans.
Develop annual budgetary plan (OPEX and CAPEX) for the Power Planning unit and track OPEX trends.
Ensure strict adherence to policies and procedures of MTN in the Power Planning and implementation unit and continuous improvement to foster efficiency.
Design and advise on power dimensioning and optimization of existing power systems (DC, clean power, standby power and cooling systems).
Oversee the review of switch mechanical & electrical (M&E) upgrades to guarantee timely delivery to meet business objective.
Develop tender formulation and final tender adjudication and recommendations.
Obtain and keep accurate M&E records for all MTNN technical and non-technical facilities from power operations unit for planning purposes.
Conduct financial analysis and assess viability of projects.
Manage and direct activities and performance of utility vendors, contractors and consultants.
Develop detailed plans in support of approved strategies in respect of Power Operations unit, organizing required resources, monitoring and periodically reporting progress of plans.
Develop annual budgetary plan (OPEX and CAPEX) for the Power Operations unit and track OPEX trends.
Ensure strict adherence to policies and procedures of MTN in the Power Operations unit and continuous improvement to foster efficiency.
Ensure MTNN network is operated and maintained to standard requirements within the Power Operations unit.
Oversee prompt management of major power systems faults nationwide and ensure weekly reports on overall power systems performance of the network are compiled and made available to management.
Develop, implement and maintain an efficient management information system for the Power Operations unit.
Conduct financial analysis and assess viability of projects.
Job Condition:
Normal MTNN working conditions
May be required to work extended hours
National travel and a valid driver’s license
On standby 24/7 throughout the year
Experience & Training
Minimum of 4 year tertiary qualification / Masters advantageous
Fluent in English and language of country preferable
First Degree in Electrical/Electronics, Mechanical Engineering or any related discipline from a reputable institution
Project Management courses.
Member of recognized technical/professional society/organization will be an added advantage
At least 10 years working experience comprising:
Manager track record of 3 years or more; with at least 3 years in relevant sector/ industry
Worked across diverse cultures and geographies advantageous
Experience in design, implementation and management of power/cooling systems.
