Job Overview
We are seeking an inspiring and strategic Principal to lead Taybuwtah International Secondary School.
The Principal will have overall responsibility for the leadership and management of the school, ensuring that it provides high-quality education and a safe, supportive learning environment.
The Principal will be responsible for setting the vision, mission, and goals of the school, overseeing all academic, administrative, and operational aspects, and building strong relationships with staff, students, and the community.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Strategic Vision:
Lead the development and implementation of the school’s vision, mission, and strategic goals.
Set clear expectations for academic excellence, student discipline, and school culture.
Foster a collaborative and positive school culture that promotes continuous improvement and innovation.
Build and maintain relationships with parents, staff, students, and the local community to ensure the school’s long-term success.
Ensure the school is responsive to changes and developments in education, adapting as needed to stay competitive and relevant.
Academic Leadership:
Oversee the design and implementation of the school curriculum, ensuring it aligns with both British and Nigerian educational standards.
Ensure high-quality teaching and learning across all subjects and year groups, providing support and professional development opportunities for teachers.
Monitor student performance, setting high expectations for achievement and implementing strategies for improvement.
Oversee the assessment, grading, and reporting systems to ensure transparency, fairness, and accuracy.
Promote the use of technology and innovative teaching practices to enhance the learning experience.
Student Welfare and Discipline:
Maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive school environment that promotes students’ academic, social, and emotional well-being.
Oversee student discipline and behavioral management, ensuring that the school’s policies are followed and that students are held accountable.
Implement systems to monitor and improve student attendance and engagement.
Lead the development of extracurricular programs that enrich students’ experiences and contribute to their overall growth.
Staff Management and Development:
Lead the recruitment, selection, and performance management of staff, ensuring a high-performing team.
Provide mentorship and guidance to teaching and non-teaching staff, fostering their professional growth.
Organize regular staff training, workshops, and other professional development initiatives.
Evaluate staff performance, providing constructive feedback and addressing any performance-related issues.
Cultivate a positive work environment where collaboration, creativity, and professional growth are encouraged.
Operational and Financial Management:
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the school, ensuring efficient and effective management of resources, including human, financial, and material.
Assist in the development and management of the school budget, ensuring resources are allocated appropriately to meet the school’s needs.
Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and accreditation requirements, and maintain high standards of governance and accountability.
Liaise with the Board of Directors and other stakeholders to ensure that the school meets its objectives and is sustainable in the long term.
Community Engagement and External Relations:
Represent the school to external stakeholders, including local education authorities, government agencies, and other schools.
Promote the school’s reputation and foster strong partnerships with the community, parents, and alumni.
Actively engage with the local community to establish Taybuwtah International as a leading educational institution.
Qualifications
Master's Degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field.
At least 10 years of teaching experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership or management role.
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
In-depth knowledge of both the British and Nigerian educational systems, curriculum development, and assessment standards.
