We are seeking a dynamic, visionary, and experienced Vice-Principal to assist in the overall leadership and management of the school.
The Vice-Principal will collaborate with the Principal to ensure the smooth operation of academic and administrative functions.
The role includes shaping and implementing the school’s educational vision and goals, overseeing student discipline, academic performance, and staff development.
Key Responsibilities
Academic Leadership and Management:
Assist the Principal in overseeing the development and implementation of the school curriculum, ensuring alignment with both British and Nigerian educational standards.
Provide guidance and support to teachers in delivering high-quality lessons and maintaining effective classroom management.
Monitor and evaluate the academic performance of students, identifying areas for improvement and implementing strategies to enhance learning outcomes.
Ensure that assessments, examinations, and grading systems are fair, transparent, and compliant with the school's academic policies.
Contribute to the development of school-wide academic goals and initiatives that promote excellence in teaching and learning.
Student Discipline and Well-being:
Ensure the effective implementation of the school’s policies on student behavior, discipline, and welfare.
Monitor student conduct and provide support for students facing academic, social, or behavioral challenges.
Lead efforts to maintain a safe, respectful, and supportive school environment, addressing any incidents of bullying, harassment, or misconduct.
Organize and oversee extracurricular activities, events, and programs that contribute to students’ overall development.
Staff Support and Development:
Support the Principal in managing and supervising staff performance, including conducting regular performance reviews and providing constructive feedback.
Organize professional development opportunities for teachers and staff to enhance their skills and stay updated on best practices in education.
Foster a positive, collaborative working environment that encourages continuous improvement and high levels of staff engagement and morale.
Provide mentorship and guidance to new teachers to ensure they succeed in their roles.
Administrative Leadership:
Assume the role of Acting Principal in the absence of the Principal, overseeing the day-to-day operations of the school.
Manage the school timetable, scheduling classes and events to ensure efficient use of resources and time.
Assist in managing school budgets, resources, and facilities, ensuring the school operates effectively.
Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and oversee the implementation of the school’s policies and procedures.
Liaise with parents, school committees, and external stakeholders to address concerns and provide updates on student progress and school activities.
Strategic Planning and School Development:
Contribute to the development and execution of the school’s long-term goals and strategic initiatives.
Assist in planning and implementing new programs or initiatives to enhance the school’s academic offerings and student experience.
Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement, encouraging both students and staff to reach their highest potential.
Communication and Community Engagement:
Serve as a key point of contact for students, staff, and parents, maintaining open and transparent communication.
Organize and lead meetings with staff, parents, and school committees to discuss school progress, student achievements, and areas for improvement.
Represent the school in external events, conferences, and meetings as required, promoting the school’s mission and values.
Qualifications
Master's Degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field.
At least 5 years of teaching experience, with a proven track record in a leadership or management role in a school.
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
Strong understanding of both the British and Nigerian educational systems, including curriculum, assessments, and teaching methodologies.
Skills and Experience:
Excellent leadership and management skills with the ability to motivate and inspire staff and students.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a strategic mindset.
In-depth knowledge of student assessment and development, with the ability to analyze data and implement strategies for improvement.
Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
Experience in managing school operations, budgets, and resources effectively.
