Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Mathematics Teacher to join our academic team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging mathematics lessons to secondary school students.
The role requires a deep understanding of the subject and the ability to make learning mathematics an enjoyable and fulfilling experience for students.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Learning:
Teach mathematics to secondary school students in accordance with the school’s curriculum, ensuring alignment with both the British and Nigerian educational standards.
Plan and deliver dynamic, interactive lessons that cater to the varying academic abilities and learning styles of students.
Implement a range of teaching strategies, including problem-solving, group work, and technology integration, to engage students and promote a deeper understanding of mathematics.
Assess student progress regularly, provide feedback, and implement strategies to address areas for improvement.
Foster a positive attitude towards mathematics, encouraging critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Classroom Management:
Create and maintain a supportive and disciplined classroom environment conducive to learning.
Develop and implement strategies to manage student behavior and create an atmosphere of mutual respect.
Organize classroom resources and teaching materials to support effective learning.
Student Support:
Provide individual support to students, helping them to overcome challenges in understanding mathematical concepts.
Motivate students to take an active interest in mathematics and encourage them to achieve their full potential.
Monitor student progress and provide regular updates to students, parents, and school leadership on areas of success and areas for improvement.
Assessment and Reporting:
Develop, administer, and evaluate assessments to monitor students' understanding and progress in mathematics.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance.
Provide regular feedback to students and parents, highlighting achievements and areas for improvement.
Professional Development:
Participate in professional development activities, including school-wide meetings and training programs, to continuously improve teaching methods.
Collaborate with other mathematics teachers and staff to share best practices, plan curriculum activities, and improve the overall quality of education.
Stay informed about changes to the British and Nigerian educational systems, particularly in the field of mathematics.
Qualifications
A Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field.
A teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS) or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
At least 2 years of teaching experience in secondary education, with a strong understanding of both the British and Nigerian mathematics curricula.
In-depth knowledge of mathematics, including algebra, geometry, calculus, and statistics.
Skills and Experience:
Strong knowledge of mathematics and the ability to teach all levels from beginner to advanced.
Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to create a positive and engaging learning environment.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex mathematical concepts in a clear and understandable way.
Familiarity with modern teaching technologies and educational tools.
Ability to assess and track student progress and provide actionable feedback.
