We are excited to be searching for a proactive and result-oriented Finance Officer with an interest in Value Chain sustainability to join our team, and we hope it’s you!
Your Role
As a Finance officer, you’re the backbone of our country office operations - ensuring financial integrity, driving efficient program delivery, and keeping everything running smoothly behind the scenes.
From budgets to compliance, you’ll play a key role in supporting both the strategic and day-to-day financial and administrative functions that help our work make real impact on the ground.
The position is based in Lagos, Nigeria with regular travels to project sites spread across Nigeria.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and analyse financial statements (P&L and Balance Sheet)
Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting to management and stakeholders
Monitor Financial performance against budgets and forecasts
Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts
Monitor Expenditure and ensure compliance
Reconciled accounts to ensure accurate financial records
Manage cash flows to ensure liquidity for operational needs
Implement and maintain strong financial controls to prevent fraud/errors
Ensure compliance with donors and regulatory financial requirements
Implement financial policies and procedures
Manage and coordinate the accounts payable process, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments.
Manage annual audit cycles and ensure the timely delivery of audit reports to donors.
Manage day-to-day financial operations and ensure sound financial management in the country office
Requirements
What you bring:
Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent work experience) in Finance, Accounting, Business Economics, or a related field.
2–5 years of experience in finance and accounting in an international organization
Professional certification in finance or proven work experience.
Experience with financial management, Analysis, and reporting in international organizations.
Strong ability to interpret financial data and provide insights.
Experience using accounting software (e.g., SpendCloud, Exact).
Understand tax laws (PAYE, VAT, WHT) and financial regulations.
Ability to develop, monitor, and analyse budgets.
Strong knowledge of financial statements, reconciliations, and reporting standards (IFRS, GAAP).
Full professional proficiency in English; proficiency in another widely spoken language is an asset.
Strong Excel skills.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
