Job Summary
The Sales Representative is responsible for driving sales growth within a designated route by directly distributing company products to supermarkets, open markets, retail stores, and major hubs.
He/She will be expected to maintain strong customer relationships, ensure accurate delivery of goods, and represent the company with professionalism and integrity.
Key Responsibilities
Identify and open new sales channels to potential clients and generate new leads through networking, referrals, and research to supermarkets, market stalls, stores, and major distribution hubs
Actively sell company products to existing and prospective customers within the assigned route
Negotiate pricing and contracts effectively and close sales deals to meet or exceed sales targets
Execute route plans effectively, ensuring maximum coverage and sales
Meet or exceed daily, weekly, and monthly sales targets.
Schedule and conduct face-to-face meetings and deliver compelling sales presentations to communicate product features, benefits, and competitive advantages
Gather market intelligence, and understand customer needs with a view to analyze and provide feedback to management on market intelligence, customer behavior, and competitor activity.
Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing retail customers, hub operators, and store managers to encourage repeat business and grow account revenue.
Offer product knowledge and promotional support to retailers and hubs.
Ensure timely and accurate delivery of products to customers within the route.
Monitor and maintain inventory levels, ensuring accurate stock records and preventing losses
Provide regular sales reports and forecasts to management, highlighting achievements and challenges
Collect payments (where applicable) and submit accurate daily sales and remittance reports.
Prepare daily activity and sales reports.
Analyze market trends and competitors to identify opportunities and threats
Maintain a log of all customer engagements, deliveries, and issues resolved.
Provide after-sales service, gather customer feedback, and resolve any product-related complaints promptly.
Work closely with the marketing and customer service teams to ensure a seamless customer experience.
Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum of OND/HND/B.Sc in Marketing, Business Administration, or any related field.
Minimum of 1–3 years of relevant experience in FMCG or related sales/distribution roles.
Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to drive a manual van.
Proven experience in sales, preferably in a direct sales or van sales role.
Good knowledge of routes in the specified region
Strong communication, negotiation, and customer relationship skills.
Proven ability to meet sales targets and manage route logistics.
Familiarity with sales techniques, negotiation strategies, and closing tactics.
Customer-focused attitude and sales-oriented mindset.
Must be honest, reliable, and well-organized.
