Job Summary
The Communication Focal Point based at the regional hub of Abuja will act as the primary liaison between the Lives and Livelihoods Fund Management Unit (LLFMU), the regional hub, and the Project Management Units (PMUs), ensuring alignment and the delivery of consistent, high-quality communication outputs.
This role encompasses overseeing the communication portfolio, providing capacity-building support, ensuring compliance with branding guidelines, enhancing the visibility of the LLF and its donors across supported countries and increasing visibility of the LLF-funded projects.
Additionally, the focal point will streamline communication processes, monitor progress, and closely coordinate with the LLFMU communication team.
Key Responsibilities
Communication Coordination at Project Level:
Capacity Building: Train PMUs on communication processes and standards set by the LLFMU Communication Team.
Branding and Marking Compliance: Monitor and follow up with PMUs to ensure that all LLF-funded assets are branded and marked appropriately.
Reporting Routines:
Remind and follow up with PMUs on submitting monthly communication reports and uploading communication assets to their repository.
Track monthly communication deliverables listed in PMU-specific Gantt charts for communication plans.
Track upload of comms report and comms assets to PMUs respective repositories.
Content Review and Quality Assurance: Review PMU communication assets to ensure alignment with LLF quality standards, providing feedback and recommendations for improvement as needed.
Information Aggregation: Compile monthly updates, communication assets, and achievements from PMUs into a consolidated, user-friendly report for the LLFMU Communications Team and folder.
Coordination with LLFMU Communications Team:
Monthly progress updates and coordination with the LLFMU Communication lead and team
Share communications assets from projects, on monthly basis.
Respond promptly to LLFMU requests for stories, visuals, and other communication materials to support fund-level content.
Facilitate the procurement of local and/or international documentary filmmakers and photographers in consultation with RH admin and finance teams and coordinate shooting schedules in collaboration with technical teams in PMUs and RHs.
Support LLFMU digital media presence by providing social media-ready content, ensuring project visibility online.
LLF 2.0: Support the communications work with the new LLF 2.0 projects in English-speaking countries, including but not limited to the projects mentioned above.
Coordination at the Hub Level:
Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain active communication with Operations Team Leads (OTLs) and Project Management Specialists (PMS) to address communication-related matters with PMUs.
Quarterly Reporting: Produce and share a comprehensive communication report for all PMUs under the hub’s jurisdiction, summarizing progress, challenges, and recommendations.
Events planning:
Support for Donors' Field Visits to above listed countries - Coordinate communication activities during field visits, ensuring timely and efficient implementation of the LLF-MU led communications and visibility plans through close collaboration with PMUs.
Support for LLFMU Events when taking part in the countries listed above.
Support for PMUs with their in-country events to ensure proper visibility for the LLF and its donors.
Routine Tasks:
Daily Coordination: Engage with PMUs daily when needed to ensure alignment and progress on communication objectives, and for any support request coming from PMUs.
Quarterly Meetings with PMUs: Conduct quarterly review meetings with PMUs to assess what is working, identify challenges, and make necessary adjustments for the next quarter.
Reporting:
Compile and submit quarterly communication reports to the LLFMU Communications Team.
Prepare an annual communication report summarizing achievements, lessons learned, and opportunities for improvement.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Project Management, or Marketing and Communications.
5+ years in communications and event management.
Experience in multilateral institutions is advantageous.
Key Skills and Competencies:
Strong project management and organizational skills.
Expertise in communication processes, branding, and media engagement.
Proficiency in using tracking tools and creating reports.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English – French is a plus.
Ability to provide constructive feedback and capacity-building support.
Experience in coordinating with diverse stakeholders, especially field teams.
Familiarity with development projects and donor-funded programs is a plus.
Experience working with IsDB is a plus, particularly familiarity with its processes and internal procedures.
