We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Project Manager to lead end-to-end agriculture and agro-processing manufacturing projects.
The ideal candidate will have 2–5 years of proven experience in project management, with a strong background in engineering, agriculture, agro-processing, and manufacturing.
This role requires a strategic thinker with excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills to ensure successful project delivery aligned with PDIC’s mission to drive sustainable development and investment in Nigeria’s agricultural sector.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning and Execution:
Lead the planning, implementation, and delivery of agriculture and agro-processing manufacturing projects from inception to completion.
Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, budgets, resource allocation, and risk management strategies.
Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
Stakeholder Management:
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies, farmers, suppliers, contractors, and community leaders.
Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders to ensure alignment and support for project objectives.
Team Leadership:
Lead and motivate cross-functional project teams, including engineers, agronomists, technicians, and OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers).
Provide clear direction, set performance expectations, and ensure effective team communication.
Budget and Resource Management:
Work with the Finance team to develop accurate project financial models and forecasts.
Monitor project budgets, track expenditures, and ensure cost-effective use of resources.
Identify and mitigate financial risks to avoid budget overruns.
Quality Assurance and Compliance:
Ensure all projects comply with relevant regulations, industry standards, and PDIC’s quality assurance protocols.
Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure adherence to safety and quality standards.
Reporting and Documentation:
Prepare and present regular project status reports to senior management and stakeholders.
Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including contracts, permits, and progress reports.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement:
Identify opportunities for process improvement and innovation.
Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices to enhance project outcomes.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Agriculture, Agricultural Engineering, Business Administration, Project Management, or a related field.
Master’s Degree or professional certifications (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2, Agile) are highly desirable.
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of experience in project management, preferably in agriculture, agro-processing, or manufacturing.
Experience working in Nigeria or similar emerging markets is an advantage.
Core Skills and Competencies:
Project Management Expertise:
Proven experience managing complex projects in agriculture, agro-processing, or manufacturing.
Strong knowledge of project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall, PRINCE2).
Technical Knowledge:
In-depth understanding of agricultural practices, agro-processing technologies, and manufacturing processes.
Familiarity with farm-to-factory value chains and supply chain management.
Leadership and Team Management:
Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to inspire and manage diverse teams.
Strong conflict resolution and decision-making abilities.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build trust and collaboration with stakeholders.
Experience working with government agencies, NGOs, and rural communities is a plus.
Financial Acumen:
Proficiency in budgeting, financial forecasting, and cost control.
Experience with financial management tools and software.
Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills:
Ability to identify risks, analyze complex problems, and develop effective solutions.
Strong attention to detail and a results-oriented mindset.
Adaptability and Resilience:
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with changing priorities.
Resilience to overcome challenges and deliver results under pressure.
Technology Proficiency:
Proficient in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Asana, Trello).
Familiarity with data analysis tools and ERP systems is an advantage.
