FairMoney is building the leading mobile bank for emerging markets. We started with a digital microcredit application on Android, and currently roll out additional financial services (current account, savings, debit card) while expanding the product to Western Africa and South-East Asia.
The Head of Asset Finance (Head of AF) will be responsible for leading and managing the Asset Finance business line for FairMoney.
The Head of AF will be accountable for the overall management of the business division, driving growth, overseeing risk management, and upholding best practices in governance and customer service in line with the Company’s internal policies as well as the Central Bank of Nigeria Regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership:
Develop and implement the organization’s strategic plan to achieve sustainable growth and expand market presence within the Asset Finance business segment.
Work closely with the Management Team, providing timely updates on strategy, operations, and performance.
Operational & Financial Management:
Oversee day-to-day operations and ensure that all AF departments are aligned with the business line’s strategic objectives.
Monitor financial performance, manage budgets, and drive profitability while maintaining sufficient capital adequacy.
Oversee implementation of effective internal controls, risk management, and compliance systems.
Stakeholder Engagement & Market Development:
Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including selected asset manufacturers and distributors, investors/financiers, customers, industry associations, and more.
Continue to develop asset financing products and services that meet the needs of low-income segments while ensuring responsible lending.
Human Capital & Organizational Development:
Lead, mentor, and develop the management team within Asset Finance, fostering a high-performance culture.
Oversee talent management strategies, including recruitment, training, and succession planning.
Champion ethical practices, transparency, and accountability across the business line.
Technology & Innovation:
Work with the Company’s Product team to promote technological advancements and development within the Asset Finance product suite to enhance operational efficiency and extend outreach.
Ensure robust IT systems are in place to support regulatory reporting, data security, and customer service.
Requirements
A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field is required; an MBA or equivalent postgraduate qualification is preferred.
At least 10–15 years of progressive experience in senior management roles within the financial services or microfinance sector.
Demonstrable experience in scaling operations and managing growth in regulated financial institutions.
Proven track record in strategic planning, financial management, risk management, and compliance.
In-depth knowledge of Nigerian financial regulations and microfinance/banking industry practices, specifically related to asset financing.
