Job Title: Janitor (Hospital Environment)

Location: Lagos Island, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

• The Hospital Janitor is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment in all areas of the hospital, including patient rooms, operating theaters, offices, hallways, and public spaces. 
• This role supports will ensurehigh standards of cleanliness in compliance with hospital policies and health regulations.

Responsibilities

• Clean and disinfect patient rooms, surgical areas, restrooms, waiting areas, offices, and other hospital spaces.
• Safely handle and dispose of wastes.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and polish floors using appropriate cleaning equipment.
• Restock soap dispensers, hand sanitizers, paper towels, and other supplies.
• Follow strict protocols for cleaning high-risk areas.
• Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
• Report maintenance issues (e.g., leaks, broken fixtures) promptly to supervisors.
• Ensure cleaning supplies are used properly and stored securely.
• Respond to urgent cleaning requests in emergency situations or spills.
• Maintain confidentiality and respect patient privacy at all times.

Requirements

• Minimum of SSCE / High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Prior janitorial experience, especially in a hospital or healthcare setting, is preferred.
• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies.
• Familiarity with safety and sanitation standards (e.g., WHO, CDC, or local health agency guidelines).
• Physical stamina and ability to lift, push, and pull cleaning equipment.
• Attention to detail and the ability to follow procedures precisely.
• Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
• Willingness to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Frequent exposure to fluids and cleaning chemicals.
• Requires wearing protective gear such as gloves, gowns, and masks.
• Work is performed indoors with walking, standing, and lifting throughout shifts.
