Job Description
The Regional Customer Application Engineer is the person in charge of positioning GE Vernova's products and configuration with customers prior to firm bid tendering phase, working in collaboration with the Account/Sales Manager.
The RCAE needs to understand the customers, their business model, the market, the economics, technical requirements, and drivers on each opportunity.
The RCAE uses this knowledge and her/his understanding of the market to influence the customer and position GEV's products and preferred configuration prior to firm bid.
Working with the Account/Sales Manager, the RCAE shapes technical strategy for an opportunity, leveraging expertise from the Value Solutions team and the Application Engineering team, prior to handing off to the ITO team.
Each RCAE is experienced in thermal modeling of Gas Power Systems product lines from its state-of-the-art H-class heavy duty gas turbine, B, E & F class gas turbines, aeroderivative gas turbines, hydrogen fuel applications, carbon capture & sequestration (CCS) solutions in understanding the markets our customers work in, in the economic evaluation of plant configurations, and in understanding GEV’s preferred configuration strategy.
Roles and Responsibilities
Own pre-ITO technical deliverables for all typical opportunities directly from assigned account managers. For complex opportunities, may own with support from broader applications team or may support another more experienced AE team member leading.
Gather from Customers and other sources information about each opportunity and the Customer’s development plan, strategy, and evaluation method.
Inform Customers about GE Vernova technology and solutions through in-person and online presentations.
Use thermodynamic modeling software to model Simple Cycle (SC), Combined Cycle (CC), and Combined Heat & Power (CHP) plants.
When appropriate, work cross-functionally to conduct configuration optimization.
Conduct economic life-cycle evaluation analysis of GE Vernova and competitor solutions for projects prior to formal Request For Proposal (RFP).
Work closely with New Unit Sales and within the broader Applications Engineering and Product Line Management teams to ensure optimum GE Vernova competitiveness.
Proactively assess product fit and define an influencing strategy to best position GE Vernova prior to firm bid. Products include Heavy-Duty Gas Turbine, Aeroderivative Gas Turbine, Steam Turbine, Generator, and Heat Recovery Steam Generator.
Work closely with New Unit Sales to establish a pre-ITO level of technical information flow to develop gas power projects.
Respond to Customer requests for technical information prior to RFP, including providing transmission interconnect data and emissions data for permitting.
Define and communicate to the ITO proposal team the project background, optimum configuration, necessary approvals obtained, and bid strategy.
Gather competitive data and support post win and post mortem analyses.
Analyze and report back to the business regional Customer needs and trends.
Provide Customer feedback to internal functions (i.e. Solution Architect, Value Engineering) regarding the preferred configuration designs and strategy
Requirements
What you’ll bring (Basic Qualifications):
Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering Degree or related Engineering backgrounds from accredited universities with 2 - 5 years industry experience.
Good knowledge of GE Gas Power products and technology (Heavy-Duty Gas Turbine and/or Aeroderivatives, Steam Turbine, CC, CHP), processes and organisational structure.
Experience in Thermal performance simulation tools (GTP, Ebsilon etc)
Prior experience in engineering, construction or operation of large power plants.
