Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) is an international, private, non-governmental, non-profit humanitarian organization. Our organization offers assistance to populations in distress, to victims of natural or man-made disasters, to victims of armed conflict, without discrimination irrespective of race, religion, creed or political affiliation. We have been working in Nigeria since February 1996.
Provide obstetrical care to pregnant women and their babies, doing follow up before, during and after delivery, according to MSF obstetrical and reproductive health protocols, universal hygienic and newborn caring standards and under supervision of a specialist doctor, in order to ensure their health conditions and avoid post-delivery complications.
General Accountabilities
Provide quality maternal and reproductive health services including antenatal/postnatal care, family planning, deliveries, emergency obstetric care (BEmONC/CEmONC), neonatal care, and safe abortion care in line with MSF protocols.
Support the care and management of individuals affected by sexual or intimate partner violence, ensuring compassionate, confidential, and non-discriminatory services in line with survivor-centered principles.
Conduct routine counselling on contraception and unwanted pregnancies with respect for patient autonomy and informed decision-making.
Ensure infection prevention and control measures, safe equipment use, and proper drug and stock management.
Collaborate with the medical team and supervisors for smooth referrals, case management, and ward organization.
Participate in safe identification of sensitive cases in designated areas, support data collection, and maintain strict confidentiality at all times.
MSF Section / Context-Specific Accountabilities
To offer survivors of SV / IPV, including medication according to MSF protocols and guidelines and complete all relevant documentation.
Offer routinely safe identification in ITFC, Noma SRH room, ATFC/PHC site as per job aid provided.
Collaborate with SV supervisor for management of complicated cases and survivors who need admission in maternity.
To offer contraception counselling based on MSF protocols and respect patient centered care.
To offer counselling and options for women and girls on unwanted pregnancy.
Participate data collection activities, ensuring all the cover sheet and data collection tools are up to date and update the SV supervisor Ensure patient’s data confidentiality..
Participate in the project meetings, this includes medical meeting and other departmental meeting
Ensure a good team collaboration with the MoH team.
Flexibility in undertaking assigned tasks, due to the changing nature of MSF operations
Requirements

Education Bachelors Degree in Midwifery and registration with NMCN is Essential.
Experience At least 2 years experience as Midwife.
Languages Mission language essential. Local language is highly desirable.
Competencies Flexibility, Commitment to MSF principles, Teamwork and result oriented.
