Job Title: Radiology Nurse

Job Objective
The Radiology Nurse will be responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic imaging procedures.
Job Summary
This role involves preparing patients for radiologic investigations, assisting radiologists and Radiographers during procedures, monitoring patient condition, and ensuring patient safety and comfort.
He/She must possess a strong understanding of radiologic procedures, patient care, and medical protocols.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
The following job profile is not an exclusive list of responsibilities and could be changed from time to time per business requirements. Patient Preparation and Assessment:
Conduct pre-procedure assessments, including reviewing patient medical history and current health status.
Explain procedures to patients and their families, addressing any questions or concerns.
Prepare patients physically and emotionally for radiologic and other procedures, ensuring they are comfortable and informed. Procedure Assistance:
Assist radiologists and Radiographers during diagnostic imaging procedures such as X-rays, MRIs, CT scans, ultrasounds, and interventional radiology.
Administer contrast agents and other medications as required, monitoring for adverse reactions.
Ensure proper positioning of patients to obtain optimal imaging results while maintaining patient safety.
Patient Monitoring and Care: Monitor patients’ vital signs and overall condition before, during, and after procedures.
Provide immediate care in case of adverse reactions or medical emergencies.
Offer post-procedure care instructions and follow-up information to patients and their families.
Quality Improvement and Compliance:
Adhere to all safety protocols and infection control guidelines.
Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and facility policies.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education to stay current with best practices in radiology nursing.
Collaboration and Communication:
Collaborate with the ambulance team, porters, and other staff to safely transport patients from their location to the radiology facility.
Work closely with radiologists, radiographers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care.
Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team regarding patient status and care plans.
Document all patient interactions, assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
Other tasks as assigned by your Line Manager or the Head of Department.
Minimum Qualifications: Academic Qualifications
Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited and reputable institution.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, preferably in the radiology or Laboratory Unit of a standard Diagnostic facility.
Valid and current license as a Registered Nurse (RN)
Basic Life Support (BLS) and/or Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications are required.
Skills and Competencies:
Strong clinical and critical thinking skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
Proficiency in electronic health records (EMR) and other healthcare technologies.
Salary
N150,000 - N200,000 monthly.
