Job Title: Director, Product Management
Location: Lagos
Employment type: Full-time
About the Role
Given the scope of the Technology portfolio, the role of Director of Product Management plays a critical role in shaping the direction of Technology at NewGlobe
You will collaborate with all the various departments inside and outside of Tech to understand and prioritise competing demands to ensure that we are building the right products to create a sustainable future and an unfair advantage.
And you will research and present the product strategy regularly to the global executive leadership team.
You will report directly to the Chief Technology Officer, while working closely with the other members of the Technology Leadership team, esp. the Vice President, Software Development and the Vice President, IT Operations.
You will also oversee all members of the Product Management department, such as our Product Designers, Product Managers, and Product Operations Specialists.
What You Will Do
Oversee the Product Management department, including managing the product design, product management, and product operations functions and mentoring the department team members.
Own the technology product roadmap, looking out 3 months to 3 years to make sure our portfolio is always moving in the right direction.
Cultivate strong relationships with subject matter experts and senior leadership across NewGlobe to develop a deep understanding of our strategy, structure, and business model, and to elaborate new product offerings.
Ensure ongoing buy-in and support from stakeholders, bringing in external research to validate what “good” looks like for the product direction
Facilitate workshops with business stakeholders to outline the product roadmap and project release plan
Partner with other members of the Technology leadership team to drive innovative product thinking
Evaluate the external landscape, staying on top of trends and emerging technologies that we should be aware of and consider adopting into our own digital product strategy.
Understand our diverse staff and families, and the environments in which they operate, in order to guide solutions that are context-appropriate and high-impact.
Advise on “build vs. buy” decisions regarding where we are best served to develop proprietary technology and where we should adopt cost-effective package solutions.
Connect with other EdTech organisations to build relationships, as well as speaking at conferences and talking with the media to help increase awareness of NewGlobe. This role involves championing NewGlobe externally from a tech perspective.
What You Should Have
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in a related field with superior academic performance
Experience working in either the B2B or B2G space, especially in contexts in which many of the users are not the direct customer.
Education or EdTech experience within the B2G or B2B space are additionally interesting.
Comfort interacting with stakeholders of all levels, internal and external, facilitating stakeholder meetings, and influencing design decisions.
You can easily synthesise data and insights into clear, impactful messaging.
A track record of managing products through different stages of their lifecycle, from taking a product from 0 to 1 (creating a shared vision and translating it into a roadmap with clear measures of success), to extending and refining an existing product, to sunsetting end of life products.
Experience overseeing a portfolio of products simultaneously, not just one or two products, especially a portfolio that includes both mobile or field based applications, as well as back office tools.
Comfort working in a company that acts and feels a lot like a startup (dynamic, unstructured, and frequently changing), but at the same time with global reach and experiencing massive expansion.
Ability to work autonomously with full ownership of deliverables and attention to detail.
Strong analytical ability - our products must provide concrete business value and you can run the analysis to support your work
