Job Description
The accountant is responsible for managing the financial aspects of the firm, ensuring proper budgeting, financial reporting, and compliance with tax and regulatory requirements.
The role also involves overseeing the firm’s financial planning, advising on financial decisions, and handling payroll and audits.
Manage day-to-day financial transactions, including billing clients, processing payments, and handling receipts.
Ensure all financial records are accurately recorded and maintained in the firm’s accounting system.
Financial Reporting:
Prepare financial reports such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
Analyze financial data and provide insights into the firm’s financial health and performance.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
Oversee the firm’s financial planning processes, including preparing and managing budgets for various departments.
Develop financial forecasts to guide business decisions, ensuring the firm remains financially stable.
Overseeing the firm's financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
Tax Compliance:
Ensure compliance with tax and financial regulations by accurately calculating and handling tax filings.
Stay up to date with tax laws and make sure the firm is fully compliant with local and international tax requirements.
Payroll Management:
Manage payroll for employees and contractors, ensuring accurate and timely payments.
Handle deductions, benefits, and other compensation-related matters for staff.
Financial Record Review & Discrepancy Resolution:
Regularly review financial records for discrepancies and resolve any issues promptly.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records to ensure transparency and accountability.
Financial Advisory & Cost Control:
Advise management on financial decisions, including potential investments, cost control strategies, and profitability maximization.
Recommend measures for improving the firm’s financial performance and reducing unnecessary expenses.
Audit Coordination:
Coordinate with external auditors for the annual audit process, ensuring the firm’s financial records are in order and compliant with regulatory requirements.
Prepare necessary documentation and reports for the auditors.
Requirements
Minimum: B.Sc. / HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline from a recognized institution.
3+ years of experience in core accounting roles.
Membership in a professional accounting body is a strong advantage.
