Job Title: Chef

Job Summary
The Chef at La Campagne Tropicana Hills and Cave Resort is responsible for creating and overseeing the preparation of high-quality meals for guests.
This role includes managing the kitchen operations, ensuring food safety, maintaining food cost control, and leading the culinary team to deliver an exceptional dining experience that meets the resort's standards of excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Menu Planning and Development:
Create and develop innovative, seasonal menus that align with the resort’s culinary vision and customer preferences.
Ensure that the menu offers a variety of options for guests with different dietary needs, preferences, and cultural considerations.
Experiment with new recipes and presentation styles to elevate the guest dining experience.
Food Preparation and Cooking:
Oversee the preparation and cooking of meals, ensuring all dishes meet high-quality standards.
Ensure the consistent quality of food in taste, texture, and presentation, adhering to recipes and cooking methods.
Ensure that food is prepared in an efficient and timely manner, especially during busy periods.
Kitchen Management:
Manage and supervise kitchen staff, ensuring proper work practices, hygiene, and safety standards are maintained at all times.
Assign tasks and responsibilities to kitchen staff, ensuring they are well-trained and efficient.
Monitor food preparation areas to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
Inventory and Food Cost Management:
Monitor food inventory, ensuring stock levels are maintained to avoid shortages or waste.
Order food and kitchen supplies, negotiating with suppliers to obtain quality products at competitive prices.
Control food costs by managing portion sizes, reducing waste, and using ingredients efficiently.
Quality Control and Safety Standards:
Ensure that all food served meets the resort's quality standards in terms of taste, presentation, and hygiene.
Enforce cleanliness and food safety protocols, ensuring that the kitchen operates in compliance with local and international standards.
Conduct regular inspections of kitchen equipment and utensils, ensuring they are properly maintained.
Guest Interaction and Satisfaction:
Occasionally engage with guests, ensuring their dining experience is satisfactory and addressing any special requests or dietary requirements.
Respond to guest feedback in a professional manner and make improvements as needed to enhance guest satisfaction.
Team Leadership and Training:
Lead, mentor, and train kitchen staff to improve skills and enhance overall performance.
Foster a positive and productive work environment, promoting teamwork and collaboration in the kitchen.
Qualifications and Skills
A formal culinary qualification or diploma from a recognized culinary school.
At least 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a high-end resort or hotel kitchen.
Experience in managing kitchen staff and operations, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality meals consistently.
Technical Skills:
Proficient in various cooking techniques and methods.
Strong knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and kitchen management.
Ability to create and develop menus that align with trends and guest preferences.
Leadership and Communication:
Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
Excellent communication skills for coordinating with kitchen staff, resort management, and guests.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, ensuring smooth kitchen operations even during high-demand periods.
Attention to Detail and Organization:
Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
High attention to detail in food preparation, presentation, and quality control.
Creativity and Passion for Cooking:
A passion for culinary arts with a creative approach to cooking and presentation.
An understanding of guest expectations, cultural food preferences, and the ability to create unique dining experiences.
Working Conditions:
The Chef will work in a busy resort environment, managing high volumes of guests.
This position may require working early mornings, late nights, weekends, and public holidays, depending on the resort’s operational needs.
