Job Overview
The Site Engineer is responsible for overseeing the technical and operational aspects of construction projects on-site.
This role involves ensuring that projects are executed in accordance with engineering designs, quality standards, and safety regulations.
The Site Engineer will coordinate with project teams, subcontractors, and suppliers while monitoring the progress of work and resolving any issues that arise during the construction phase.
Key Responsibilities
Project Coordination:
Supervise daily on-site activities to ensure that construction work is carried out according to design plans and specifications.
Collaborate with architects, contractors, and engineers to discuss project progress, technical details, and resolve issues.
Quality Control and Compliance:
Monitor construction work to ensure compliance with safety standards, quality guidelines, and industry regulations.
Conduct regular site inspections and prepare progress reports detailing inspections, work completed, and any identified issues.
Technical Support:
Interpret and review engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical documents.
Provide technical advice and troubleshoot construction issues in real time, ensuring minimal disruption to project timelines.
Resource Management:
Assist in the planning and coordination of material supplies, equipment usage, and workforce allocation.
Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to confirm the delivery and quality of construction materials.
Cost and Time Management:
Monitor project budgets and timelines, ensuring that work progresses on schedule and within approved costs.
Assist in estimating resource requirements and prepare cost analyses and progress reports for project management.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain detailed project records, including daily logs, progress reports, and other relevant documentation.
Prepare and submit regular updates to the project manager, highlighting any deviations from the project plan and suggesting corrective measures.
Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE):
Enforce on-site safety protocols and ensure that all workers comply with safety regulations.
Identify potential hazards and work with the team to develop mitigation strategies.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
Experience:
2-5 years of relevant experience in construction or site engineering. Experience in supervising on-site operations is preferred.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings, blueprints, and technical documents.
Familiarity with computer-aided design (CAD) software, project management tools, and construction-related software.
Solid understanding of building codes, safety regulations, and quality control standards.
Soft Skills:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with team members and stakeholders.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment.
Other Requirements:
Willingness to work in varying weather conditions and on-site environments.
Possession of a valid driver’s license and any necessary certifications relevant to construction safety and compliance.
Working Conditions:
The position is primarily field-based, and the Site Engineer will spend most of the workday on construction sites. Occasional travel to different project locations may be required.
The role demands adherence to strict safety guidelines, and the engineer must be prepared for physically demanding tasks and variable environmental conditions.
