We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Electric Engineer - Field Construction
Location: Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time
Overall Purpose of the Job
To coordinate and oversee all electrical aspects of construction projects, field operations, and maintenance, including fabrication, installation, commissioning, and repairs. This role also involves contributing to the design and development of new electrical systems and ensuring compliance with safety and technical standards throughout the project lifecycle.
Job Responsibilities
Assist in planning, scoping, and providing technical support for electrical aspects of capital projects to ensure timely and quality delivery.
Inspect and endorse electrical materials procured for company use to ensure compliance with specifications.
Act as Technical Authority for electrical engineering matters during construction and installation, ensuring adherence to industry codes and standards.
Provide technical feedback from the field to support electrical design improvements.
Support field operations with electrical engineering expertise for operational excellence and continuous improvement.
Conduct electrical authorization assessments for operations personnel; enforce electrical safety rules and procedures.
Support the development and maintenance of as-built documentation for all electrical deliverables across facilities.
Supervise field installation of electrical systems to ensure compliance with design parameters and mechanical completion goals.
Participate in safety and design reviews (e.g., SAFOP, HAZID, HAZOP, constructability), as well as Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT).
Use CAD software to design and plan electrical systems tailored to specific project needs.
Monitor electrical construction progress, conduct quality inspections, and ensure adherence to project plans and specs.
Collaborate with mechanical, structural engineers, architects, and construction managers to ensure electrical integration within the overall project.
Estimate and manage budgets and schedules for electrical systems; ensure cost and time efficiency.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues during construction; identify root causes and provide solutions.
Ensure all electrical systems and site practices comply with safety standards and regulations.
Maintain detailed records and documentation, including built drawings and material compliance reports.
Conduct system testing to verify functionality, code compliance, and correct connections.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience, preferably in the oil and gas industry
Hands-on experience in electrical design, construction, and commissioning
Must have worked as a Senior Electrical Engineer with an operator or EPC contractor
Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical diagrams and related documentation
Required Skills:
Strong working knowledge of electrical systems design and construction
Proficiency in electrical CAD software and electrical schematics
Familiarity with P&IDs and engineering documentation
Solid understanding of industry codes and safety regulations (e.g., NEC, IEC)
Effective leadership and communication skills
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
Strong coordination and project management skills, especially under field conditions.
