We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Field Support Engineer (Radio or Fiber)
Hoop Telecoms Limited is seeking a skilled and proactive Field Support Engineer to provide on-site technical support, installation, and maintenance services for our telecommunications infrastructure.
The ideal candidate will ensure consistent network performance, resolve field issues efficiently, and contribute to excellent service delivery across client locations in Lagos.
Key Responsibilities
Radio FSE:
Install, configure, and maintain microwave radio equipment, CPE routers, switches.
Conduct technical site surveys and advise on link feasibility LoS nLOS
Maintain accurate documentation of field activities, service reports, and equipment status.
Respond to and resolve issues with microwave radio alignments, configuration and connectivity.
Ability to configure Mikrotik radios and routers, TPLink routers, Ubiquity devices, Ligowave radios, Cambium devices and the likes.
Good knowledge of wireless technology and ability to troubleshoot wireless issues.
Basic knowledge of TCP / IP.
Good knowledge structure cabling and management.
Respond to service calls and deliver hands-on technical support to clients.
Conduct regular site inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure optimal network uptime.
Troubleshoot and resolve connectivity or hardware issues efficiently.
Liaise with the Network Operations Center (NOC) for escalations and network status updates.
Ensure safety and compliance with company protocols during all field operations.
Support project rollouts and system upgrades as directed.
Train end-users or junior field technicians when necessary.
Fiber FSE:
Install, manage, and maintain Hoop Telecoms fiber optics cable both aeriel and underground.
Install and manage CPE routers, switches in customer last miles installations.
Good knowledge of longhaul, shorthaul PTP and PTMP fiber infrastructure installation and management.
Good knowledge of installing, managing and troubleshooting of FTTx fiber infrastructure.
Experienced in the use of fiber equipment and tools like splicing machine, OTDR, VFL, Light source, power meter etc.
Excellent splicing experience and excellent knowledge to read traces using OTDR, VFL and Light source in
Conduct technical site surveys and advise on link feasibility LoS nLOS
Ability to manage locals and field challenges when they arises.
Familiarity with Lagos streets and it environs both Mainland and Island.
Maintain accurate documentation of field activities, service reports, and equipment status.
Respond to and resolve issues with fiber optics cable, configuration and connectivity.
Ability to configure Mikrotik routers, TPLink routers, GPON/ONU devices.
Good knowledge of fiber optics technology and ability to troubleshoot issues when it arises.
Basic knowledge of TCP/IP.
Good knowledge structured cabling and management in cabinet, closures, indoors and outdoor installation.
Respond to service calls and deliver hands-on technical support to clients.
Conduct regular site inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure optimal network uptime.
Troubleshoot and resolve connectivity or hardware issues efficiently.
Liaise with the Network Operations Center (NOC) for escalations and network status updates.
Ensure safety and compliance with company protocols during all field operations.

Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Electrical / Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in field support within the telecoms industry.
Proficiency with networking tools, diagnostic devices, and telecom systems.
Solid understanding of IP networking and telecommunications infrastructure.
Strong communication, troubleshooting, and time management skills.
Flexibility to travel to client sites across Lagos and work under varied conditions.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with fiber optics installation and splicing.
Familiarity with wireless networks (Wi-Fi, LTE, microwave).
Knowledge of telecom industry standards and safety protocols.
