Job Title: Accountant

Location: Egbeda, Lagos

Reports to: MD / CFO

Job Summary

• Our client is currently seeking an experienced Accountant to manage day-to-day financial transactions and reporting. 
• He / she will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records, processing accounts, and assisting in the preparation of reports to ensure the financial health of the company.

Key Responsibilities

• Process and record daily financial transactions such as sales, receipts, payments, and payroll.
• Ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices, payments to suppliers, and receipts from clients.
• Reconcile bank statements, accounts payable, and accounts receivable to maintain accurate financial data.
• Act as a banking officer to maintain banking relationships.
• Manage accounts payable by processing supplier invoices, verifying accuracy, and ensuring timely payment.
• Monitor accounts receivable, track outstanding payments, and follow up with clients to ensure collections are up-to-date.
• Handle discrepancies and resolve billing issues with suppliers and clients.
• Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
• Support budgeting and forecasting activities by gathering and analysing financial data.
• Prepare financial summaries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules as required by management.
• Ensure compliance with financial policies, regulations, and internal controls.
• Assist with the preparation for internal and external audits and implement audit recommendations when necessary.
• Maintain proper documentation for all financial transactions and ensure it is readily accessible for audits or reviews.
• Update and maintain financial records in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, etc.).
• Ensure the accuracy and security of financial data through regular reviews and backups.
• Analyse data to identify trends or discrepancies and report findings to the MD/CFO.
• Prepare and submit VAT, WHT, Payee and other tax filings as required by Nigerian tax authorities.
• Stay updated with tax regulations and ensure compliance with statutory obligations.
• Liaise with external tax consultants or authorities for tax assessments and clarifications.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth financial operations.
• Provide financial insights and advice to assist decision-making by management.
• Offer support in ad-hoc financial projects as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum of bachelor’s level education in accounting/finance, or a related field.
• Professional qualifications (e.g., CPA, ACCA) or working towards certification is a plus.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or finance roles, preferably in a medium-sized company.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, Sage) and Microsoft Excel.
• Expert communication, problem-solving, time management and documentation skills.
• Self-motivated and demonstrated ability to manage a busy and demanding workload.

Salary
N200,000 Monthly.
