Job Title: Business Development Officer (Oil & Gas Sector)

Job Summary
Our Client is looking to hire four Business Development Officers in Lagos and Abuja.
A highly driven and sophisticated Business Development Officer with deep experience in the oil and gas industry, specifically in driving commercial growth and closing high-value transactions with International Oil Companies (IOCs), National Oil Companies (NOCs), and related stakeholders.
The ideal candidate must possess a commanding executive presence, a polished and persuasive communication style, and the strategic acumen required to build relationships, negotiate complex deals, and position our brand as a partner of choice within the energy sector.
Role Responsibilities
Strategic Business Development:
Identify and pursue new business opportunities with IOCs, NOCs, and large energy-related institutions.
Develop market penetration strategies to expand the company’s footprint across the upstream, midstream, and downstream oil & gas value chain.
Conduct competitive analysis and strategic mapping to identify potential areas for growth and collaboration.
Client & Stakeholder Relationship Management:
Establish and nurture high-level relationships with decision-makers in IOCs, regulatory bodies, oil service companies, EPC contractors, and energy consortiums.
Act as the face of the company at executive forums, energy summits, investor roadshows, and client meetings, projecting influence and confidence.
Manage client expectations and engagements throughout the transaction lifecycle from pitch to close.
Deal Origination & Transaction Management:
Initiate, structure, and close large-scale B2B transactions, tenders, or partnership agreements.
Prepare and deliver impactful proposals, technical and financial presentations, and contract negotiations tailored to client needs.
Liaise with internal legal, technical, and finance teams to ensure deals are compliant and profitable.
Revenue Generation & Performance Reporting:
Drive sales performance and achieve defined revenue and margin targets.
Monitor market trends and competitor activity to refine business development strategies.
Generate timely business intelligence and performance reports for executive leadership.
Brand Positioning & Representation:
Serve as a brand ambassador with strong visibility in the energy industry.
Represent the company at relevant industry conferences, exhibitions, and stakeholder engagements.
Contribute to marketing and PR strategies to elevate the company’s image and value proposition within the sector.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Energy Economics, or a related field.
Master’s Degree (e.g., MBA or Energy-related specialization) is an added advantage.
Minimum of 7–10 years of experience in business development or strategic sales roles within the oil and gas industry, with proven access to key decision-makers in IOCs.
Demonstrated experience in closing high-value B2B transactions, joint ventures, or partnership deals.
Skills and Competencies:
Executive Presence: Charismatic, well-spoken, and confident in high-level engagements.
Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of the oil and gas value chain, regulatory environment, and procurement practices.
Strategic Sales: Ability to identify, nurture, and close complex business deals with minimal supervision.
Stakeholder Management: Skilled in engaging C-level executives and government stakeholders.
Communication & Influence: Excellent presentation, negotiation, and persuasion skills.
Analytical Thinking: Strong business acumen with the ability to assess risks, returns, and long-term value.
Networking & Relationship Building: Established industry contacts and relationship capital in the energy sector.
Professional Carriage: Well-groomed, articulate, and emotionally intelligent.
