Job Title: Chief Technology Officer
Location: Lagos
Reports to: Group CEO
Direct Reports: IT Managers, Systems Engineers, Network Administrators, Software Developers, Technical Support Teams
Main Function
The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of the Group will lead the strategic development, implementation, and optimization of technology across the group’s diverse business units, including fuel stations, retail, quick-service restaurants, bakery, car wash, laundry, rental halls, hotels etc.
The CTO will drive digital transformation, ensure infrastructure efficiency, manage IT risks, and support business innovation aligned with the company’s growth and operational excellence goals.
Role Responsibilities
Technology Strategy and Leadership:
Develop and execute a comprehensive IT and digital transformation strategy in alignment with the group’s long-term vision and operational goals.
Advise executive management on emerging technologies and trends that can impact or benefit the subsidiaries.
Lead the adoption of automation, ERP, data analytics, AI, IoT, and other innovative technologies to improve efficiency and customer experience.
Infrastructure & Systems Management:
Oversee the architecture, design, implementation, and maintenance of all IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, POS systems, CCTV, fuel dispenser systems, and cloud platforms.
Ensure systems are scalable, secure, reliable, and optimized for peak performance across all locations.
Drive the consolidation and integration of digital tools across business units for operational coherence..
Cybersecurity, Risk & Compliance:
Establish and enforce IT security policies, standards, and best practices to protect company data and systems from internal and external threats.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., data protection, financial reporting systems, etc.).
Lead disaster recovery planning and business continuity initiatives for technology systems.
Digital Transformation & Innovation
Champion the implementation of digital solutions such as mobile apps, CRM systems, e-commerce platforms, loyalty programs, and self-service solutions.
Work with department heads to digitize internal workflows (HR, finance, operations, etc.).
Evaluate and deploy technologies to enhance the customer journey across touchpoints in the group’s fuel, retail, hospitality, and food services.
Project Management:
Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of IT projects across all subsidiaries and business units.
Ensure project timelines, budgets, and deliverables are met with measurable ROI.
Establish agile project management methodologies and tools for effective implementation.
Team Leadership & Capacity Building:
Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing, agile technology team.
Ensure recruitment, performance management, and continuous training of IT staff.
Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, accountability, and excellence within the technology team.
Vendor and Stakeholder Management:
Manage vendor relationships with technology providers, hardware suppliers, software developers, and consultants.
Evaluate, negotiate, and implement technology partnerships that align with business goals.
Collaborate with internal business leaders to align technology solutions with business needs.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related discipline.
MBA or Master’s degree in Technology/Business-related field is an added advantage.
Minimum of 10 years of progressive IT experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership or CTO role.
Strong track record of implementing enterprise-wide digital transformation in retail, oil & gas, hospitality, or multi-sector organizations.
Proven experience in systems integration, infrastructure management, cybersecurity, and IT governance.
