Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer to join our team and lead the project management efforts for a large-scale oil and gas pipeline project.
As the Senior Project Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing all technical aspects of the project, ensuring that the design, engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities meet the client's requirements, timelines, and budget.
You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, stakeholders, and clients to ensure that the project is executed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
Key Responsibilities
Project Engineering Oversight Lead and manage the technical execution of the oil and gas pipeline project, including design, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases. Coordinate with engineering teams, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery of project milestones.
Technical Leadership & Quality Control Provide technical guidance and support to the project team. Ensure compliance with engineering standards, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements. Lead reviews of design documentation, specifications, and engineering drawings to ensure quality, safety, and functionality.
Project Scheduling & Budgeting Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, ensuring all activities align with the overall project timeline. Oversee cost management efforts to ensure that the project remains within budget. Implement cost-saving strategies and recommend corrective actions as needed.
Risk & Safety Management Identify potential risks related to the project, including technical, operational, and safety risks. Implement mitigation plans and ensure that risk management procedures are followed. Ensure that all work is conducted in compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.
Stakeholder Communication & Reporting Serve as the primary technical point of contact for clients, contractors, and stakeholders. Prepare and deliver regular progress reports, presentations, and updates to senior management and clients. Facilitate meetings with internal teams and external stakeholders to discuss progress, challenges, and solutions.
Contract & Vendor Management Manage relationships with vendors and subcontractors, ensuring that all contractual obligations are met. Monitor contractor performance and compliance with project specifications, timelines, and quality standards.
Commissioning & Handover Oversee the commissioning phase of the pipeline project, ensuring that all systems are tested, inspected, and operational before handover to the client. Support the preparation and submission of project closeout documentation.
Qualifications & Experience
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, or Petroleum Engineering preferred).
Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., PMP, PE) is a plus.
Experience:
10 - 12 years of experience in engineering and project management within the oil and gas industry, specifically in pipeline projects.
Proven track record of managing large-scale pipeline projects from engineering through to commissioning.
Strong experience in managing multidisciplinary teams and complex technical challenges.
Technical Skills:
In-depth knowledge of pipeline design, construction, and commissioning processes.
Familiarity with industry codes and standards (e.g., ASME, API, ISO, etc.).
Experience with project management software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project) and engineering design tools.
Leadership & Management:
Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams.
Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to work with clients, stakeholders, and contractors at all levels.
Key Competencies:
Project Management: Proven experience in project planning, budgeting, risk management, and delivery.
Technical Expertise: Strong technical understanding of oil and gas pipeline systems, including materials, construction techniques, and regulatory standards.

Team Collaboration: Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment with both internal and external stakeholders.
