Job Title: Power Plant Asset Manager
Location: Benin City, Edo
Reports to: Sr. Director, O&M Services
Job Summary
This role is ideal for a U.S. expatriate with prior experience working in Africa, preferably Nigeria.
The Power Plant Asset Manager will report to the Sr. Director of O&M Services and play a critical role in developing and implementing operations and maintenance (O&M) programs, ensuring optimal performance and compliance with industry standards.
This position follows a rotational schedule, with three months spent in Nigeria overseeing plant operations, followed by one month working remotely from the U.S.
The selected candidate will be responsible for project planning, contract management, O&M program execution, and acting as a liaison between corporate and on-site teams.
The Power Plant Asset Manager will interact with key stakeholders, including corporate leadership, plant personnel, contractors, and regulatory authorities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Lead and oversee O&M activities at the plant site, ensuring efficient and reliable power generation.
Implement and optimize O&M programs and processes to improve plant performance.
Develop project plans, schedules, and budgets, obtaining approval from corporate leadership before execution.
Identify opportunities for additional work, negotiate work orders and change orders with customers, and oversee commercial processes.
Support and mentor the site O&M team to enhance operational efficiency and compliance.
Assess and recommend plant improvement projects, including cost-benefit analyses.
Provide technical guidance, problem resolution, and project coordination.
Conduct regular reporting on project status, budgets, and plant performance.
Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and regulatory requirements.
Advise company leadership on emerging challenges and recommend solutions.
Perform O&M assessments and additional duties as assigned.
Key Project Requirements:
Power Plant O&M Leadership: Oversee operations, maintenance, and performance optimization at a power generation facility in Nigeria.
International Experience: Prior experience working in Africa, preferably Nigeria, managing power plant operations.
Rotational Schedule: Willingness to work on-site in Nigeria for 3 months, followed by 1 month working remotely in the U.S.
Contract & Budget Oversight: Manage O&M contracts, budgets, and project schedules while ensuring compliance with regulatory and safety standards.
Education / Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience required.
10+ years of experience in the power industry.
10+ years of O&M experience in power generation facilities.
5+ years of project management experience, overseeing complex projects.
Experience in O&M contract management is preferred.
Prior experience working in Africa is required.
Job Requirements:

Strong leadership skills with the ability to oversee O&M operations in a remote international location.
Ability to read, understand, and implement corporate policies, O&M contracts, and industry best practices.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project, Visio, and PowerPoint).
Valid U.S. passport with the ability to travel internationally.
Willingness to live and work in Nigeria on a rotational schedule (3 months on-site, 1 month remote in the U.S.).
Flexibility to work extended hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
Physical Requirements:
Physical requirements include working on feet for 12-hour periods, requiring stair and ladder climbing; and routinely lifting 75 pounds.
Protective equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties (e.g., hard hats, safety glasses, air masks, ear protection, chemical suits, hot gloves, and high voltage protective equipment, etc.).
Work with hazardous materials may be required.
