Senior Director, Global Human Resources at Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA)

Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) is a research and policy nonprofit that discovers and promotes effective solutions to global poverty problems. IPA brings together researchers and decision-makers to design, rigorously evaluate, and refine these solutions and their applications, ensuring that the evidence created is used to improve the lives of the world’s poor. In recent decades, trillions of dollars have been spent on programs designed to reduce global poverty, but clear evidence of which programs succeed is rare, and when evidence does exist, decision-makers often do not know about it. IPA exists to bring together leading researchers and these decision-makers to ensure that the evidence we create leads to a tangible impact on the world. Since its founding in 2002, IPA has worked with over 600 leading academics to conduct over 900 evaluations in 52 countries. This research has informed hundreds of successful programs that now impact millions of individuals worldwide.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Senior Director, Global Human Resources

Location: Nigeria
Reports to: Executive Director (may evolve)

Job Summary

• As a Senior Director of Global HR for IPA, you will lead and oversee the human resources function across multiple countries and regions, contributing to the development and leading the implementation of global HR strategies and policies, supporting HR and management staff around the world, and ensuring alignment with organizational and programmatic goals.

Global HR Operations:

• Develop and implement HR policies, procedures and best practices globally, ensuring consistency and compliance with local laws and regulations.
• Manage the HRIS and other HR systems, ensuring data accuracy and security.
• Develop and implement HR metrics and reports to track key performance indicators.

Talent Acquisition, retention, and development:

• Support and oversee the development and deployment of strategies for attracting, developing, and retaining talent, including incorporating the Competency Framework into the employee lifecycle, refining the performance management process, and overseeing the Learning and Development function.

Compensation & Benefits:

• Oversee compensation and benefits, ensuring competitiveness and compliance globally.
• Regularly update and maintain equitable and transparent compensation structures across all Country Offices and the US.

Employee Relations:

• Lead Employee Relations and address complaints.
• Provide counsel to managers on appropriate methods of addressing performance management issues.
• Foster an engaging organizational culture that promotes talent retention.

Leadership and Management:

• Lead and manage the Global HR team.
• Provide dotted-line oversight to, and support and build the capacity of HR staff in Country Offices; assist in articulating global HR policy at the country and regional level.
• Oversee Human Resources for US-based and remotely-based staff, coordinating as relevant with Employers of Record and PEOs.
• Advise the SMT on how to cost-effectively strengthen the HR function across the organization.
• Continue building an inclusive, engaged, and collaborative workplace, and help to instill cultural awareness and sensitivity across IPA through human resources best practices.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree required. Advanced degree preferred. Certifications in HR helpful
  (SPHR, GPHR)
• At least 10+ years of leadership experience, with 5+ years leading an HR function.
• At least 5 years of experience managing people and teams of various sizes in dispersed locations, preferably across different regions in Africa, Asia and Latin America, demonstrating strong cultural awareness.
• International not-for-profit/non-governmental (NGO) experience is strongly preferred.

• Drives initiatives with limited resources and a roll-up-your-sleeves attitude to achieve desired results.
• Listens well, is responsive, solution-focused and result-oriented.
• Experience with change management is preferred.
• Full fluency in English. Fluency in Spanish and/or French is preferred.

Compensation

IPA's compensation structure is designed based on the labor market for the specific geographic location where the employee is located. The salary will vary depending on IPA's salary scale ranges for that specific location. For example, we are offering the following salary ranges for this position:

• For a Colombia-based employee: the starting annual gross salary is 480,000,000 COP with a maximum of 600,000,000 COP.
• For a Kenya-based employee: the starting annual gross salary is 15,180,000 KES with a maximum of 21,420,000 KES.
• For a US-based employee, the starting annual gross salary is 124,700 USD with a maximum of 165,000 USD.
• Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, base salary of internal peers, business sector, and geographic location.
