Description

• Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, Nigeria, in collaboration with Rostock University, Germany, is pleased to announce the availability of fully sponsored Ph.D. positions under a joint research programme between the Bioresources Engineering Research Group at ABU and the Professorship for Material and Energy Valorization at the University of Rostock.

Research Areas
The research will focus on:

• Bioenergy
• Green Hydrogen
• Waste to Energy 
• Circular Economy

Ph.D. Positions Available

• Four (4) PhD positions are available under the programme.
• The positions will involve advanced research in the aforementioned bio-resource fields, aiming to develop sustainable solutions for global environmental and energy challenges.
• Successful applicants will conduct their research at Ahmadu Bello University in Nigeria and spend six months at the University of Rostock in Germany during the programme.

Key Responsibilities

• To carry out independent and high-quality research with a focus on bioenergy, green hydrogen, waste to energy, or circular economy.
• To publish at least two articles per year in reputable and indexed journals.
• To be fully committed to the research work and regularly submit progress reports to their supervisors.
• To carry out any other tasks assigned by their supervisors, if deemed necessary, from both universities.

Requirements

• A minimum of Second Class (Upper Division) in their First Degree and a good Master's Degree in any field of Engineering with a research focus in bioenergy, waste to energy, circular economy or green hydrogen.
• Applicant must not be older than 35 years at the time of application.
• Strong command of the English language, both written and spoken.
• Applicants should not be under any other scholarship (if employed, an applicant must submit proof of study leave).
• Two academic reference letters must be submitted along with the application.
• A concept note (not more than 5 pages) on any of the aforementioned research areas.

• Successful applicants will be offered provisional admission to the University of Rostock, Germany.
