Mai Shayi Coffee Roasters Limited is a premier specialty coffee brand in Nigeria, renowned for its end-to-end involvement in the coffee value chain. From cultivating Arabica coffee in Jos, Plateau state, to meticulous processing and batch-roasting, we promise an unparalleled coffee experience. As a forward-thinking company, our footprint extends from cafes in Lagos and Abuja to our two arabica coffee farms, a cooperative of 141 farmers, and a dedicated roastery supplying premium coffee for both retail and B2B avenues. With our expansion, we seek a skilled and detail-oriented Internal Auditor to ensure the integrity of our financial operations and compliance with legal regulations

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Head, Human Resources

Location: Abuja (FCT) and Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Key Responsibilies

  • Provide reports on all areas of HR, Payroll and Learning and Development, including the application of Employment Law, HR policy, best practice and workforce development.
  • Advise and strategise on the development of effective employment policies across the company.
  • Provide professional leadership, support and development to HR staff, in order to increase knowledge, share best practice and to ensure that relevant professional standards are met.
  • Ensure that the company complies with current regulations, accepted professional standards, policies and procedures and legislation (including legislation on data protection, the Equality Act and health and safety).
  • Manage the execution of the HR Strategy and core areas of the HR department including Recruitment, Employee Relations, Workforce Administration, Employee Engagement, Payroll, Reward and Recognition, as well as maintaining and improving HR systems and management of the HR budget.
  • Drive the continuous improvement agenda with focus on engagement & welfare activities, maximising productivity, devolving HR responsibilities to line managers and building leadership capability.
  • Take a lead role in transforming and strengthening the organisational culture, ensuring that the company values and approach are displayed.
  • Execute a plan for diversity, equality, and inclusion that aligns with company values, business strategy and commitments.
  • Regularly coach, mentor and support senior and high potential colleagues to identify individual strengths and development needs, develop and maintain effective relationships and encourage retention.
  • Ensure managers are sufficiently skilled and enabled to access appropriate guidance and information to manage workforce issues.

Role Requirements

  • A minimum of Graduate-level Degree. A master's degree or MBA would be an added advantage.
  • Membership of at least one of CIPM, CIPD, Agile HR, SHRM, HRCI etc.
  • A minimum of 5-10 years cognate experience with at least 4 years in a Management position
  • Human Resource Practitioners license
  • Experience working in the Hospitality Industry
  • Demonstrated experience leading HR initiatives and Delivery teams
  • Good experience in International Recruitment (Expatriates)
  • Ready to work 6 days per week.

  • Data driven: Ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions, advice and/or make decision making

  • Executive presence: Excellent analytical skills, presentation and story-telling skills with the ability to simplify complex thoughts/ideas.
  • Facilitation skills: Individual, team & client facilitation skills across general and HR specific subject matter.
  • Open and growth mindset: Anticipates having to adapt work methods to changing technology, environment, people and opinions that challenge the ordinary/status quo for better outcomes.
  • Coaching & mentoring: Provide coaching or mentoring services to individuals and teams across the organisation.
