Role Overview
The Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems within the hotel.
This role ensures that all technical aspects of the facility operate efficiently, minimizing downtime and ensuring guest satisfaction.
The ideal candidate must be hands-on, detail-oriented, and capable of handling routine and emergency repairs.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in performing routine maintenance and repair tasks on electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and HVAC systems under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor.
Troubleshoot and fix malfunctioning equipment, including lighting, air conditioning, elevators, and kitchen appliances.
Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guests and hotel departments to ensure minimal disruption.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance work performed, including spare parts used and repair logs.
Work closely with the housekeeping and front office teams to ensure all guest areas remain in excellent condition.
Ensure compliance with health and safety standards, fire codes, and hotel policies.
Operate and maintain tools, machinery, and diagnostic equipment safely and efficiently.
Identify and report any major facility issues to the Maintenance Supervisor for prompt resolution.
Participate in emergency maintenance operations, such as power failures, plumbing leaks, and security system malfunctions.
Assist in training junior maintenance staff on best practices and technical skills.
Monitor and manage energy consumption, identifying opportunities for cost-saving measures.
Support renovation and remodelling projects by providing technical expertise and labor.
Ensure all maintenance activities follow environmental and sustainability guidelines.
Install and maintain hotel security systems, including surveillance cameras and access control systems.
Repair and maintain kitchen and laundry equipment to ensure smooth operations.
Conduct regular testing and maintenance of emergency lighting and backup power systems.
Assist in setting up audiovisual equipment for hotel conferences and events.
Perform minor carpentry and painting tasks to maintain the aesthetic appearance of the hotel.
Develop and implement a maintenance checklist to ensure routine tasks are completed on schedule.
Assist in sourcing and procurement of maintenance materials and spare parts.
Work with external vendors and contractors for specialized repair work and large-scale maintenance projects.
Provide recommendations to management for upgrades or replacements of outdated equipment.
Requirements
OND, Trade Test, or Technical Certification in Electrical, Plumbing, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
2-4 years of experience as a technician, preferably in the hospitality industry.
Strong knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems.
Ability to troubleshoot and repair technical faults efficiently.
Basic knowledge of maintenance tools and diagnostic equipment.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to follow safety protocols and work in compliance with regulatory standards.
Physical stamina to perform manual labor and lift heavy equipment.
Availability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays.
Salary
N100,000 - N150,000 Monthly.
