Job Description

• Our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Commodity Trader to oversee the buying and selling of commodities.
• The ideal candidate will be responsible for analyzing market trends, negotiating transactions, and effectively managing trading risks.
• Commodities to be Traded:
  • Agricultural commodities (e.g., grains, oilseeds)
  • Energy commodities (e.g., crude oil, natural gas)
  • Metal commodities (e.g., copper, gold)
• The role holder will report to the Trading manager/Director, based in Lagos, Nigeria.

Responsibilities

• Examine market trends and predictions to spot potential trading opportunities.
• Discuss and carry out trades with suppliers, buyers, and relevant stakeholders.
• Oversee trading risks while ensuring adherence to company policies and regulatory guidelines.
• Build and sustain strong relationships with key partners, including suppliers, buyers, and industry professionals.
• Keep informed about industry advancements, market updates, and regulatory modifications.
• Work closely with teams such as logistics, finance, and operations to streamline processes.

Qualifications

• A relevant Bachelor's Degree in fields such as Business, Finance, or Economics.
• 5 to 7 years of hands-on experience in commodity trading.
• In-depth knowledge of commodity markets, trading strategies, and risk management.
• Strong skills in negotiation, communication, and relationship management.
• Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment and make well-informed decisions under pressure.
