Advocacy for Resilience and Innovative Solutions for the Youths, Women, and Children Empowerment (ARISE Youths, Women, and Children) is a women-led, non-profit organization dedicated to transforming the prolonged hardships caused by insurgency, natural disasters, and economic adversity into pathways for growth and renewal.

Our organization is dedicated to contributing to efforts that address pressing needs within vulnerable communities. We work alongside partners to support initiatives in areas like education, food security, livelihood, protection, climate action, good governance, and Health/nutrition. By focusing on these areas, we aim to empower marginalized populations, especially youth, women, and children, creating pathways to resilience and sustainable growth.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Finance / Admin Officer (Volunteer)

Location: Maiduguri, Borno
Employment Type: Volunteer

Responsibilities
Financial Transactions & Record Keeping:

  • Development and documentation of project implementation plans.
  • Documentation, filing, and archiving of documents (programme, monitoring, and financial reports) using appropriate storage methods.
  • Innovative implementation of activities for programme delivery and achievement of organizational objectives.
  • Arrange and coordinate program meetings and activities, ensuring reports are written and submitted within the expected timeframe.
  • Prepare payment vouchers, cashbook, bank reconciliation statements, and review partners’ financial reports.
  • Post transactions on the ARISE system and support monthly reconciliation of various accounts.
  • Gather and photocopy supporting documentation for payment vouchers, code, and file payment vouchers in arch files accordingly.
  • Process payments to vendors, per diem, and transportation for participants during field activities.
  • Track and follow up on all outstanding advances to ensure timely retirement.
  • Handle logistics for activity preparation and travel.
  • Support the preparation of donor financial reports.
  • Ensure financial documents are retained and ready for audit at year-end.
  • Support tax matters, including deducting WHT from payments, remitting WHT to relevant authorities, and filing annual PAYE returns.
  • Assist in financial planning, budget preparation, and monitoring budget implementation.
  • Collaborate with program teams to support and strengthen financial management.

Supplier & Vendor Management:

  • Track and receive invoices from suppliers and vendors, ensuring timely processing.
  • Prepare invoice authorization forms and obtain necessary approvals.
  • Process supplier payments and ensure compliance with ARISE financial policies.

Operations & Compliance:

  • Archive, scan, and file all finance documents, ensuring they are secure and easily accessible.
  • Ensure proper filing of financial documents in line with ARISE’s finance manual.
  • Collect and maintain timesheets for all field office staff.
  • Maintain a tracker for all payment documents sent or received.
  • Support audit processes by providing required financial documents.
  • Assist in asset spot checks and physical verification.

Accountabilities:

  • Manage day-to-day financial transactions in compliance with local regulations, adhering to the organisational Financial Framework, specifically to implementation of financial management and controls; financial planning and budgeting; financial monitoring and audits; monitoring and retaining accurate financial records.
  • Post all income and expenditure into the accounting system accurately and timely.
  • The principal accountabilities are not meant to be an exhaustive list of tasks. The need for flexibility is required and the job holder is expected to carry out any other related duties within the employee’s skills and abilities whenever reasonably instructed.
