This position will be responsible for the ongoing management of the Quality, Health and Safety Culture.
The QHSE manager will also oversee HSE audits and risk assessments to ensure that the company'sHSE policy are at optimum standards.
He will ensure that the Community meets all safety standards set by law. The QHSE Manager will also ensure that the services of the company provides is fit for purpose, is consistent and meets both external and internal requirements
Job Duties / Responsibilities
Review and upgrade the Health and Safety policy manual, and ensure that management and staff are kept informed of new requirements
Liaise with department heads to drive the implementation of HSE policies and requirements across all Departments.
Devising and establishing the company's quality procedures, standards and specifications;
Reviewing customer requirements and ensuring that they are met;
Liaise with the Clients QHSE representative to ensure that all potential and actual quality, health, safety and environmental issues are fully resolved
Liaise with regulatory bodies, Government agencies, community groups, consultants and give advice on relevant issues and incidents (i.e. fire, contaminations, injury etc.).
Design and implement an in house HSE training program to support the effective implementation of the HSE policy.
Liaise with top management to identify skill gaps and decide on recommended trainings (internal and external) to improve business and QHSE performance.
Generate project specific HSE Plans
Facilitate the provision of first-aid facilities on all company's sites.
Raise requisitions for the provision of safety/security gadgets, clothing and equipment on all sites.
Discuss and establish annual HSE objectives with management staff.
Review safety reports from QHSE Supervisors for presentation to management.
Ensure that the entire Community is taken care of and developed
Monitor the Community development supervisor/Base Manager to ensure the environment meets health standards as set by law.
Key Competencies
Degree in Engineering, Sciences and OH&S (occupational)
Must have a certification in fire, safety and other environmental Engineering
7-8 years work experience in an HSE Function
Demonstrated ability to develop the Health and Safety culture across all areas of business.
Proficiency in MS Office applications.
Well-developed negotiation/interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with people at all levels.
Ability to administer first-aid to accident victims
Must hold a current class ‘G’ Driver’s Licence.
Well-developed time management skills, ability to meet deadlines
