We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Welder
Location: Gbagada, Lagos
Job Summary
Responsible for the welding for different products to meet company specifications utilizing engineering drawings.
Responsibilities
Read blueprints, understand and interpret engineering drawings, plan layout specifications, assembly and welding operations.
Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements.
Set up components for welding according to specifications.
Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded.
Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps.
Lay out, position, secure parts and assembly with respect to the standard specifications using clamps, rulers, combination squares and other required tools.
Develop templates and other work aids to hold and align parts.
Cut electrodes and nozzle tips using chipping knives, hand shears etc.
Tack-weld or weld components and assembly using gas, arc or other welding equipment.
Detailed observation of dimension tolerance to evaluate weld quality and conformance to specifications.
Inspect grooves, angles, gap allowance using precision measuring instruments.
Remove rough spots, and spatters from work-piece using scraper, portable grinder with its attachment such as grinding disc and sanding disc.
Set up torch and adjust valves, amperage, or voltage to obtain desired flame or arc.
Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws or leakages (in case of enclosed parts) using the required testing equipment such as pressured air (for tanks) etc…
Inspect visually the welding bead for conformance to the operation procedures.
Maintain equipment and materials in a condition that does not compromise safety.
Assist the maintenance crew to carry out a routine maintenance of equipment and machinery.
Ensure Health & Safety procedures are followed and to maintain all quality systems in order to meet production targets.
Responsible for keeping equipment and work area clean and orderly and perform basic preventative maintenance functions on equipment.
Minimum Requirements
Candidates should possess a High School Diploma or equivalent. Welding & Fabrication Engineering or equivalent would be a plus.
Minimum of 3 - 5 years of proven work experience in the welding industry with skills in both welding and fabrication.
Competencies:
Comprehensive understanding and interpretation of engineering drawings and plan layout specifications, assembly and welding operations
Detailed observation of dimension tolerance to evaluate weld quality and conformance to specifications
Proper adherence to safety rules and guidelines and knowledge in the use of safety equipment to rescue situation such as fire extinguishers
Good Working Knowledge of fabricating equipment from raw materials
Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings
Proficient in Layout, Tacking, Welding, Grinding and finishing
Exceptional attention to details
Strong understanding in blue print reading/ weld symbols to accurately build products to specified tolerances
Must be able to work within a team based environment to accomplish all aspects of welding and fabrication
Knowledge in use of precision measuring instruments and the application of such instruments
Must be able to follow written and oral instructions
Able to stoop, bend, reach, or stand up for long periods
Excellent close vision and depth perception
Hand-eye coordination
Manual dexterity and strong physical stamina.
