Job Title: Communications Manager
Location: Nigeria
Job Summary
The Communications Manager is responsible for overseeing the overall communications strategy for the company and the various projects it executes for different clients.
This role ensures consistent and effective messaging across corporate branding, client projects, stakeholder engagement, and media relations.
The Communications Manager will lead strategic communications planning, content development, media engagement, and digital strategy to enhance both the company’s visibility and the impact of its client projects.
Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy that aligns with the company’s goals and client project objectives.
Ensure brand consistency across corporate and project-related communications, including messaging, visual identity, and tone.
Oversee the production of reports, newsletters, press releases, case studies, and other communication materials for the company and its projects.
Develop and manage communication plans for client projects, ensuring alignment with stakeholder needs and expectations.
Media & Public Relations:
Build and maintain relationships with media outlets, journalists, and key stakeholders to enhance the company’s and its projects' visibility.
Develop and distribute press releases, op-eds, media briefs, and thought leadership content to secure media coverage for both the company and its projects.
Monitor media trends and manage reputational risks through proactive and reactive communication strategies.
Content Development & Digital Engagement:
Oversee content creation for corporate and project-specific communication channels, including websites, blogs, reports, and digital platforms.
Manage the company’s website and client project web pages, ensuring timely and relevant updates.
Develop multimedia content (videos, infographics, presentations) to support corporate marketing and project outreach.
Lead social media strategy and engagement across multiple platforms, both for the company and project-specific accounts.
Client & Stakeholder Communications:
Design and execute client-specific communication strategies, tailoring messaging to different audiences, including funders, partners, and beneficiaries.
Provide communications advisory services to project teams and clients, ensuring effective information dissemination.
Coordinate with partners, donors, and stakeholders to ensure alignment in messaging and impact reporting.
Internal Communications & Knowledge Management:
Develop internal communication strategies to enhance staff engagement and knowledge sharing.
Support internal teams with communication tools, training, and templates to maintain consistency in messaging.
Oversee documentation and knowledge management for corporate and project communications, ensuring institutional learning and effective storytelling.
Crisis Communication & Reputation Management:
Develop and implement crisis communication plans to manage potential reputational risks for the company and its projects.
Serve as the primary point of contact for media inquiries, public statements, and stakeholder communication during crises.
Monitor public sentiment and provide recommendations for proactive engagement strategies.
Qualifications and Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
3 - 5 years of experience in corporate communications, PR, or media relations, preferably in a consulting or development-focused organization.
Strong writing, storytelling, and editing skills with experience in developing content for diverse audiences.
Experience managing social media platforms, digital marketing, and website content for both corporate and client projects.
Familiarity with data-driven analytics tools to measure communication impact and engagement.
Proven ability to develop and execute communication strategies across multiple channels.
Strong media network and ability to engage with journalists, influencers, and press organizations.
Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and public speaking skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with NGOs, donor-funded projects, or consulting firms is an advantage.
Proficiency in graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Suite) and video editing software.
