We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Compliance Officer
Location: Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time
Responsibilities
Develop, embed, and continuously update appropriate Compliance structures, policies, frameworks, and supporting processes and procedures.
Prepare and submit statutory and regulatory reports/returns to relevant authorities
The Compliance Officer shall carry out compliance audits covering all operational areas.
Build, maintain a close and continuous working relationship with all regulators including SEC, NGX, and be actively involved in relevant industry/regulatory committees.
Draft, review, and update compliance policies and procedures.
Set Compliance parameters and maintain a regulatory returns’ register.
The Compliance Officer shall ensure that appropriate remedial or disciplinary action is taken, if breaches are identified.
Responsible for considering ways of measuring compliance risk (i.e. using performance indicators) and the use of such measurements to enhance compliance risk assessment.
To maintain and develop a thorough understanding of the relevant regulatory requirements and Policies applicable to the Company in pursuance of the maintenance of an enterprise-wide compliance culture.
Undertake Anti Money Laundering related investigations arising from compliance monitoring as well as ad hoc referrals.
Provide assistance and advice on compliance issues e.g. new business, new products and new regulatory initiatives across financial markets.
Communicate to relevant business areas information on critical compliance incidents such as market abuse, conflicts of interest, money laundering, improper disclosure of confidential information.
Proactively identify new regulations and laws and ensure that the implications are appropriately Communicated to all relevant internal stakeholders.
Ensure that all issues relating to ethics and compliance are evaluated, monitored, managed and resolved in an appropriate manner and also put in place appropriate disciplinary actions and measures to avoid recurrences.
Ensure that monitoring programs are in place to measure efficiency and to identify potential areas for improvement.
Training cross functional teams on compliance requirements and new regulations
Ensure the preparation of requisite reports and the presentation of these reports to Management and relevant Board Committees/Board.
Obtain relevant regulatory approvals for products and new businesses.
Implement processes to ensure zero fines/penalties, Ensure adequate due diligence procedures, KYC, verification, etc are in place.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, Economics, Management, Law or a related degree.
Preferably 5 years+ of experience in a compliance/operations based role working in a financial services organization (Capital market operator preferred).
Must be a SEC Sponsored Individual is compulsory.
