The Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, ATBU, Bauchi was established in 1980 as the Federal University of Technology (FUT), Bauchi, located in the North Eastern part of Nigeria with Dr. Jerome Udoji and Professor A. O. Adekola as the pioneer Pro-Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor respectively, while Alh. Adamu Aliyu was the first Registrar of the University.

Job Title: Director, University Farm

Job Description
The Director of University Farm is responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction for the university's farm, ensuring the structure, including leadership and direction, is conducive to the effective management of farm operations, and promoting agricultural research, teaching, extension services, and agribusiness entrepreneurship.
The successful candidate will oversee the management of the university farm facilities, including crop and livestock production, and ensure the farm's contribution to the university's revenue generation.
Responsibilities
Provide strategic leadership and direction for the university farm.
Oversee the management of farm operations, including crop and livestock production.
Develop and implement policies and procedures for farm management.
Promote agricultural research, teaching, and extension services.
Initiate innovative approaches to establishing agribusiness ventures.
Collaborate with academic departments to integrate farm operations with teaching and research.
Supervise and evaluate the performance of farm staff.
Manage the budget and resources of the university farm.
Requirements
A minimum of a second-class lower honors degree in Agriculture with a specialization in General Agriculture, Animal or Crop Science, Agricultural Economics/Extension, or a related field, plus NYSC or evidence of exemption.
Evidence of current registration with a relevant professional body is an added advantage.
A minimum of 12 years of post-qualification experience in agricultural management, with at least 3 years in a senior management position.
Proven experience in managing farm operations, including crop and livestock production.
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
ICT proficiency.
Conditions of Service
The successful candidate will be appointed for a single term of four (4) years and entitled to the benefits and allowances approved by the Federal Government of Nigeria and the Governing Council, as the case may be.
