Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Industrial Electrical Technician to join our maintenance team.
The Industrial Electrical Technician will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems and equipment within the industrial setting.
This position requires a strong understanding of industrial electrical systems, including high-voltage equipment, control systems, and motors.
The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and capable of working independently or as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical System Maintenance: Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on electrical systems, machinery, and equipment in industrial settings (e.g., motors, PLCs, electrical panels, and circuit boards).
Troubleshooting & Repairs: Diagnose electrical issues, troubleshoot faults, and resolve problems in a timely manner to minimize downtime and ensure continuous operation of machinery and equipment.
Installation: Install, replace, or upgrade electrical systems and equipment, including wiring, lighting, switches, transformers, and control panels.
Preventative Maintenance: Develop and implement a preventative maintenance program for electrical systems and equipment to reduce the likelihood of failures and increase system reliability.
Compliance & Safety: Ensure compliance with local, state, and national electrical codes and safety regulations (e.g., OSHA standards). Follow proper lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and maintain a safe working environment.
Control Systems: Work with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and other automated control systems to diagnose and resolve issues with production equipment.
Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate maintenance records, reports on repairs, and any modifications made to electrical systems. Ensure proper documentation for compliance purposes.
Collaborate: Work closely with maintenance and production teams to schedule repairs, maintenance, and upgrades with minimal disruption to production processes.
Training & Development: Assist in the training of other staff on proper electrical practices and equipment use. Stay current on new technologies and electrical systems within the industry.
Equipment Calibration: Calibrate and test electrical equipment to ensure optimal functioning and compliance with industry standards.
Emergency Response: Respond quickly to electrical breakdowns or emergencies, ensuring systems are restored as efficiently as possible.
Key Requirements
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent; technical training in industrial electrical systems or a related field (e.g., associate’s degree in electrical technology).
Experience: Years of experience as an industrial electrician or electrical technician in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
Knowledge: Strong understanding of electrical circuits, industrial electrical systems, and control panels. Knowledge of high-voltage systems and instrumentation is a plus.
Skills:
Proficient in electrical troubleshooting and repairs.
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
Familiarity with PLCs, motor controls, and electrical testing equipment (e.g., multimeters, oscilloscopes, etc.).
Certifications: Valid electrical license (if required by the region) and any additional certifications related to industrial electrical work.
Physical Demands: Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in confined spaces or at heights, as necessary.
Safety Awareness: Strong focus on safety procedures, including lockout/tagout (LOTO), electrical safety, and PPE use.
Communication: Good verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with team members and document work effectively.
Problem-Solving: Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills, with the ability to think critically and resolve electrical issues efficiently.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification in industrial electrical work (e.g., Journeyman Electrician, Master Electrician).
Experience with automated systems and robotics in an industrial environment.
Familiarity with power distribution systems, switchgear, transformers, and high-voltage equipment.
Knowledge of energy management systems or renewable energy solutions (for energy-focused industries).
Experience with electrical design software or CAD tools.
Work Environment:
This role is typically performed in a manufacturing facility, power plant, or industrial setting.
Some work may require exposure to high-voltage systems, heavy machinery, and challenging environmental conditions (e.g., noise, temperature extremes).
Must be comfortable with shift work or on-call duties, depending on operational needs.
Salary Range
N150,000 - N200,000 / month.
