Job Title: Punch Operator

Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Punch Operator to join our manufacturing team.
As a Punch Operator, you will be responsible for setting up and operating punching machines to create holes, shapes, or designs in materials such as sheet metal.
Your work will play a key role in the production of high-quality products and components, ensuring efficiency and precision in the manufacturing process.
Key Responsibilities
Machine Operation:
Set up and operate punching machines (e.g., CNC punch press, mechanical punch press) to punch holes, shapes, or patterns into materials as per specifications.
Adjust machine settings such as speed, pressure, and stroke based on material thickness and design requirements.
Ensure proper loading and alignment of materials into the machine for accurate punching.
Quality Control:
Inspect finished parts for dimensional accuracy, alignment, and overall quality.
Perform routine checks and adjustments to ensure products meet required specifications and tolerances.
Identify and resolve any defects or issues with punched materials, such as misalignment or incomplete punching.
Machine Maintenance:
Perform routine maintenance on punching machines, such as cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn parts.
Report any major malfunctions or breakdowns to maintenance staff.
Safety and Compliance:
Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area to ensure a safe working environment.
Follow all safety guidelines and proper machine handling procedures to prevent accidents and injuries.
Production Reporting:
Track production data, including the number of parts punched, material usage, and machine downtime.
Report any issues or delays in the production process to supervisors.
Collaboration:
Work closely with other team members and departments to meet production deadlines and ensure smooth operations.
Communicate effectively with supervisors regarding production goals, issues, and improvements.
Required Qualifications
Education:
BSc, Hnd or equivalent.
Technical training or certification in machine operation is a plus.
Experience:
Previous experience as a punch operator or in a similar manufacturing or machining role is preferred.
Experience with CNC or manual punching machines is an advantage.
Skills:
Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot machine issues.
Good understanding of blueprints, technical drawings, and manufacturing specifications.
Ability to use measuring instruments (e.g., micrometres, callipers) for quality control.
Knowledge of safety standards and procedures in a manufacturing environment.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and move materials up to [specific weight] pounds.
Stand for extended periods and operate machinery for long hours.
Manual dexterity for handling tools and materials.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification in machine operation or a related field.
Experience in a specific industry (e.g., sheet metal fabrication, automotive).
