Job Title: Field Service Engineer - Large Gas Turbine Fact-Finder

Position Objective
This position serves as a company Site technical and administrative representation, traveling to both onshore and offshore locations.
Dealing with customer service assignment including onsite preventive and scheduled maintenances, service work, call-out services and new unit installation commissioning activities on gas turbines product lines and packages.
Job Description
Implementation of Fact-Finding within the Scope of Major, Minor and HGP Inspections as well as Damage Events on Turbine-Generator Sets
Customer Advisories / Training and Documentation:
Advising customers in questions regarding service and factfinding. Clarification of causes of defects in guarantee cases, investigation of damage/repair extents and passing on of guarantee recommendations.
Carrying out training of factfinding techniques, product safety, function and handling of factfinding and testing equipment.
Presenting safety and improvement recommendations at specific power plants.
Preparing power plant unit and system documentation (for example commissioning and factfinding reports) as well as relevant documents (for example test checklists, statistics, error logs, documentation of specified measured and operating values).
Mission
Under applicable direction and instructions, independently determines and develops approaches to solutions to customer requirements and problems.
Environmental, Health and Safety: Understands and complies with company and customer safety policies and procedures. Ensure the work permit system is complied with. Ensure safe site and practices. Participate by attending general safety and toolbox safety meetings. Suggest safety improvements.
Quality: Ensure customer expectations are exceeded. Ensure all maintenance activities are carried out in accordance with company policy, manufacturer's recommendations and good practices.
Keeping to High-Quality Standards:
Keeping to standards, regulations and high-quality guidelines within the scope of the technical responsibility for the specific power plant and/or compliance with QA plans, ensuring compliance with factfinding rules and regulations by regularly checking the documents.
All tests necessary according to the work schedule are to be carried out with standard, state-of-art measuring equipment and are to be documented, accordingly.
In case of procedural deviations, the responsible departments are to be informed, suggestions for corrective actions are to be made and an agreed solution is to be found together with the parties responsible
Analyzing: Must have basic knowledge of methods and experience in the categories of maintenance on the products and various equipment associated with primary package.
Project Monitoring: Lead, must be able to recognize abnormal sounds vibrations and potential safety problems at inception and take appropriate action to prevent a serious safety hazard that could develop to equipment damage or loss of production. Provide timely and daily reports to the relevant manager on on-going projects or daily work. Keep abreast of pending work and personnel required to complete the projects. Ensure that necessary parts are available and submit materials requisitions when required.
Reporting: Accurate feedback and communication to pre-planned report format. Keep and update all equipment histories to effectively forecast equipment utilization and efficiency. Co-ordinate any changes necessary to ensure operations are efficient and minimal downtime is required. Ensure effective communication and reporting to immediate supervision and if applicable to customer representatives.
Problems: Will utilize sound judgment when analyzing problems. Solve problems with little or no supervision in a timely manner and at a nominal cost. Master all procedures and available options of identifying sources of information and technical advice. Will have sufficient product knowledge to maintain gas turbine controls including components/systems and will be capable of reading/interpretation applicable drawings and technical manuals.
Scheduling: Provide short to medium term scheduling of personnel and materials required for smooth routine maintenance and commissioning of plant.
Timing: Adequate strategy of engaging operations in releasing equipment in a timely manner for maintenance. Will be, required to assist in a technical manner with the operations and maintenance crew in any area if the workload exceeds the number of personnel available.
Principal Accountabilities:
Leadership capacity and capability for site interfacing and team management
Monitor maintenance services or installation support to ensure they are carried out within company policy, manufacturers’ recommendations and in a safe manner.
Ensure major interventions are planned, executed on schedule and within commercial orders.
Qualifications
Will possess a technical qualification in Engineering Degrees; preferably in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering.
Must have verifiable above 10-years of working experience on heavy duty gas turbine mechanical systems and controls systems in a related industry.
Technical multi-skills on both controls and mechanical is mandatory.
Computer literacy on MS Windows Suite, advanced software applications and proficiency in electronic hardware handling.
Will have served on recognized gas turbine product lines and/or having long period of continuous occupation as gas turbines controls engineer.
Experience in an onshore/offshore environment is essential.
Deep knowledge of rotating equipment packages background will be an asset.
Familiarity with Gas Turbine engine theory, packages systems theory and operational will be an asset.
