Job Title: Head, Fleet Management and Operations
Location: Ososa, Ogun
Employment Type: Full-Time
Job Responsibilities
If successful, you will largely be responsible for:
Developing and implementing operational strategies, policies, and procedures for depth execution of management decisions, improve efficiency, and achieve business objectives.
Providing leadership and direction to unit heads, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and priorities.
Overseeing day-to-day operations, including Truck Maintenance and Repairs, Trips Management, Business Management, to meet customer demand and delivery targets.
Monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs), metrics, and operational benchmarks to assess performance, identify areas for improvement, and drive operational excellence.
Leading cross-functional teams to develop and implement process improvements, cost-saving initiatives, and quality enhancement programs.
Collaborating with necessary teams to forecast demand, plan trip schedules, ensure timely repair and maintenance, and manage resources effectively.
Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and safety regulations in all operational activities.
Identifying risks, vulnerabilities, and opportunities in operational processes and develop strategies to mitigate risks and capitalize on opportunities.
Fostering a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and accountability within the operations team, encouraging feedback and collaboration.
Developing and manage budgets, financial forecasts, and cost-control measures to optimize resource allocation and maximize profitability.
Building and maintaining relationships with clients, vendors, and service providers to negotiate contracts, resolve issues, and ensure timely delivery of goods and services.
Leading change management initiatives and organizational transformation efforts to adapt to evolving market conditions and business needs.
Providing regular reports, updates, and presentations to management and stakeholders on operational performance, initiatives, and achievements.
Mentoring, coaching, and developing team members, providing guidance, support, and opportunities for professional growth and advancement.
Representing the organization in external forums and business partnerships, promoting the company's reputation and interests.
Educational / Skills Requirements
To succeed in this Role, you are expected to be or have:
Bachelor's Degree in Business administration, Transportation or related field; master's degree or MBA will be an added advantage.
+7 years experience in fleet management and operations; +3 years of which should have been in a senior position, with a track record of success in leading operational functions in a complex organization.
Strong understanding of Logistics business operation, fleet management, and diesel supply.
Process improvement certifications such as Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification, Certified Process Improvement Manager (CPIM), Certified Quality Improvement Associate (CQIA), Certified Process Professional (CPP), Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE); and experience in organizations with ISO 9001:2015 – Quality Management System (QMS) and ISO55001 – Assets Management; all, will be added advantage;
Proficiency in MS Excel and Power BI;
Proficiency in modern fleet management software or technologies;
Excellent problem-anticipation, problem-solving and analytical skills
Results-oriented mindset, with a focus on delivering measurable outcomes and driving operational efficiency.
Knowledge of relevant regulations, compliance standards, and industry best practices in operations management.
Adaptability and resilience to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities effectively.
endurance and physical strength to work in a fast-paced environment;
The ability to lead, inspire and manage fleet management and operations teams, and blue-collar personnel including Truck Drivers to achieve performance goals; and
Strong communication and interpersonal skills in managing multiple stakeholders of Senior Management, and other white-collar and blue-collar personnel.
