We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Audit Trainee
Location: Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time
Key Responsibilities
Assist in performing audits of client financial statements, ensuring compliance with IFRS, GAAP, and local regulatory requirements.
Gather, analyze, and document audit evidence, including invoices, bank statements, and financial records.
Perform substantive testing and verify financial transactions for accuracy and completeness.
Assist in evaluating internal controls and identifying potential risks and weaknesses.
Work under the supervision of senior auditors to prepare audit working papers and reports.
Assist in tax computations and compliance reviews.
Participate in stock counts, fixed asset verification, and bank reconciliations as required.
Ensure audit procedures are followed according to firm policies and professional standards.
Stay updated on accounting and auditing regulations relevant to Nigeria and global standards.
Assist in drafting audit findings and recommendations for client improvements.
Qualifications & Skills
BSc or HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or in progress).
1 - 3 years experience
ICAN, ACCA, or other professional accounting certification (part-qualified or in progress) is an advantage.
Basic knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Nigerian tax regulations.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Attention to detail and ability to work with large volumes of data.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar).
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Willingness to travel for audit assignments.
Work Environment:
Typically, office-based but may require travel to client locations.
May involve long working hours, especially during peak audit periods.
