Compliance Officer is to ensure that the organization adheres to regulatory requirements and internal policies.
They are responsible for managing the organization’s financial and legal risk by determining potential compliance issues and developing strategies to mitigate them.
Key Responsibilities
Monitors the organizations internal policies, procedures, and guidelines relating to the integrity of the organization’s clients, sponsors, borrowers, and other counterparties with whom the organization interacts;
Formulation of policies inline with regulatory and industry standards to guide the processes of the organization.
Conducting reviews of policy, processes and systems including liaison with internal and external auditors;
Corporate governance involving external risk reporting to stakeholders;
Ensure maintenance of high departmental standards and providing support, education and training to staff, commonly at management level;
Oversee the implementation and enforcement of AML/CTF policies and procedures.
Coordinate Anti-Money Laundering activities and procedures and ensures liaison with relevant external bodies, including standard setters and external experts;
Provide follow up on approved recommendations of CBN, NDIC, internal and external auditors, and other regulatory bodies to ensure timely compliance.
Advise management of any possible area of policy weakness and recommend amendment as appropriate.·
Custody of all the organizations policies, process and key function documents.
Ensure that activities of departments and units in the organization are carried out with management established procedures and industry standards.
Ensure timely reporting on internal control environment within the organization by conducting regular internal control review of organization’s operations.
Coordinate timely rendition of reports on daily, weekly, monthly and adhoc basis.
Consistent risk assessments to recognize areas where the company might be vulnerable to non-compliance.
Developing, implementing and enforcing procedures and policies to ensure the organization’s compliance with industry and government regulations.
Qualification & Skills
Minimum of an HND / B.Sc Degree in Accounting or Business courses.
4 years and above in a similar position.
Problem-solving attitude
Advanced statistical skills, Credit Risk Modeling/Analysis, Data Mining, Financial knowledge.
Background in financial analyses with statistics or programming.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts in a clear and accessible manner.
Banking, Insurance and financial services knowledge.
Salary
N400,000 - N500,000 monthly.
