We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Lower Primary Teacher to join our team.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating an engaging, nurturing, and safe learning environment for students in the early primary grades (usually kindergarten through grade 3).
The teacher will be responsible for delivering lessons, assessing student progress, and fostering an environment that encourages curiosity and a love for learning.
Key Responsibilities
Curriculum Delivery:
Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons in accordance with the school’s curriculum for students in grades K-3.
Utilize a variety of teaching methods (e.g., visual, auditory, kinesthetic) to address the diverse learning needs of students.
Teach foundational subjects such as Mathematics, Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, and Art.
Student Assessment:
Continuously assess student progress through a combination of informal and formal assessments (e.g., quizzes, class activities, assignments, and projects).
Provide timely and constructive feedback to students and parents regarding progress and areas for improvement.
Classroom Management:
Maintain a positive, respectful, and orderly classroom environment.
Implement effective classroom management strategies to ensure a productive learning atmosphere.
Foster good behavior, cooperation, and discipline among students.
Pupils' Support:
Provide individual support to pupils who require additional help, either academically or socially.
Recognize and address the unique needs and learning styles of each pupil.
Establish a nurturing and supportive classroom culture, ensuring pupils feel safe and valued.
Parent and Teacher Communication:
Regularly communicate with parents regarding their child’s academic progress, behavior, and overall well-being.
Hold parent-teacher conferences to discuss pupil's development and strategies for improvement.
Professional Development:
Participate in staff meetings, professional development sessions, and school events to stay updated with educational best practices.
Reflect on personal teaching practices and seek feedback to improve performance.
Extracurricular Activities:
Participate in and, if needed, organize extracurricular activities or school events that promote holistic pupil development.
Qualifications and Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Early Childhood Education, or a related field.
Teaching certification (TRCN)
Experience teaching lower primary pupils is preferred but not required.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to create a positive and engaging learning environment.
Patience, creativity, and passion for working with young children.
Knowledge of child development and age-appropriate teaching techniques.
Ability to use technology and educational software to enhance learning.
Working Conditions:
Full-time position with standard working hours.
Classroom-based role with occasional outdoor activities or field trips.
Collaboration with fellow teachers, school staff, and parents.
Salary
N65,000 - N75,000 Monthly.
