Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) is an international, private, non-governmental, non-profit humanitarian organization. We are recruiting to fill the position below in our Sokoto Noma & Emergency Response Project:
To Perform counseling and/or education sessions to patients, following different medical and mental health MSF protocols and procedures, in order to improve their psychosocial condition.
General Accountabilities
Identify and address the psychosocial, socio-economic, and administrative needs of patients.
Provide individual or group counseling and psycho-educational sessions to patients and their families.
Refer patients to specialists or institutions for additional support when necessary.
Maintain records of activities, ensure confidentiality, and participate in team meetings.
Support training, supervision, and sensitization activities on mental health and psychosocial issues.
MSF Section/Context Specific Accountabilities
Conduct psychosocial assessments, develop treatment plans, and offer PFA, psycho-stimulation, and emotional support.
Provide referrals for specialized mental health support when necessary and develop action plans to address patients' diverse needs.
Ensure patients' rights, privacy, and dignity, promoting non-discrimination and informed decision-making.
Collaborate with the health promotion, medical, and outreach teams to raise community awareness on MHPSS, SGBV, and malnutrition.
Conduct focus group discussions to identify community needs and support culturally sensitive initiatives.
Participate in staff training, sensitization sessions, and support the referral pathway for specialized MHPSS services.
Maintain accurate records, ensure strict confidentiality, and report activities regularly.
Engage in clinical supervision and actively participate in team meetings.
Adhere to MSF policies and SOPs, reporting compliance issues promptly.
Support the preparation of MHPSS reports and data quality assurance.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements

Education: University Degree in Counseling, social work, psychology or other similar degree/diploma.
Experience: At least 1-year experience is essential. Experience with NGO desirable.
Languages: English language is essential; Local language also essential
Knowledge: Essential computer literacy (word, excel and internet)
Competencies: Results, teamwork, flexibility, commitment to MSF Principles, Service Oriented
