Job Title: Special Education Needs Teacher

Role Overview

• We are looking for a dedicated and passionate SEN Teacher to join our team and make a real difference to the lives of our students with special educational needs.
• As a Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teacher at Howbury school you will be responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing tailored education for students with a wide range of learning difficulties and disabilities. 
• You will work closely with parents, support staff, and external agencies to ensure that students receive the best possible support to reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students with SEN.
• Plan, teach, and assess lessons according to students' individual needs.
• Provide a range of learning opportunities using appropriate resources and teaching strategies.
• Monitor and track student progress and provide feedback to students, parents, and staff.
• Collaborate with other teaching staff to ensure the inclusion of SEN students in the wider school community.
• Support and mentor teaching assistants in delivering effective support to students.
• Maintain clear communication with parents and external agencies regarding student progress.
• Contribute to the overall development of the SEN provision at the school.

Person Specification

• A Degree in Special Education or a related field. 
• Masters is preferred
• Experience working with children with special educational needs (SEN), preferably within a classroom setting.
• A deep understanding of different SEN, including autism, dyslexia, ADHD, and physical disabilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within a team.
• Ability to differentiate lessons and activities to meet the diverse needs of students.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• A passion for helping students reach their full potential.
• A commitment to ongoing professional development.

Desirable:

• A relevant SEN qualification or specialism.
