Job Title: Senior Backend Engineer (Python 3)

Location: Lagos

Description 

• As a Lead Engineer, you will be at the core of our technology decisions, co-ordinating the engineering team in designing, building, and scaling our product and infrastructure.
• This is a hands-on leadership role, where you’ll balance coding, architecture decisions, and mentorship to drive technical excellence.

Key Responsibilities 

• Develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Python.
• Build and optimize RESTful and GraphQL APIs for AI-driven applications.
• Implement and improve ETL pipelines and data processing workflows for large-scale datasets.
• Collaborate with ML engineers and data scientists to integrate AI models into production systems.
• Ensure code quality, security, and performance through unit testing, CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring.
• Optimize backend infrastructure for scalability, fault tolerance, and high availability.

Required Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in backend development using Python.
• Strong experience with FastAPI, Flask, or Django for API development.
• Solid understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems.
• Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL.
• Experience working with message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ, Celery) for async processing.
• Proficiency in containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Strong knowledge of Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git, and DevOps practices.
• Familiarity with data engineering concepts, ETL pipelines, and API performance tuning.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a high-growth startup.

Nice to Have:

• Experience with AI/ML model deployment in production.
• Knowledge of event-driven architecture and serverless computing.
• Experience with GraphQL and real-time data streaming.
• Familiarity with IaC tools like Terraform or Pulumi.
