African Export Import Bank (Afreximbank) was established in Abuja, Nigeria in October, 1993 by African Governments, African private and institutional investors as well as non-African financial institutions and private investors for the purpose of financing, promoting and expanding intra-African and extra-African trade.
The Bank, headquartered in Cairo, the capital of the Arab Republic of Egypt, commenced operations on 30 September, 1994, following the signature of a Headquarters Agreement with the host Government in August, 1994. It has branch offices in Harare, Abuja and Abidjan and will open an East Africa branch office shortly.
The Senior Analyst, Client Relations (Non-Regional) will support business development, client relationship management, and financial structuring within the Client Relations department.
The role involves financial analysis, credit evaluation, market research, and deal execution support, focusing on trade finance, corporate finance, project finance, and specialized funding solutions.
The ideal candidate should have strong analytical skills, experience in financial modeling, and a solid understanding of African trade and investment dynamics.
Conduct preliminary reviews of client requests to ensure eligibility and alignment with Afreximbank’s strategic objectives.
Perform financial statement analysis, sensitivity assessments, and financial modeling in English and French.
Develop indicative term sheets, Pre-Assessment Memos, and Credit Application Memos in coordination with Senior Managers and Product Teams.
Assist in the collection of sectoral and market intelligence to support investment decisions.
Client Relationship Management & Business Development:
Support the creation of Marketing and Account Plans to address client needs and drive business growth.
Build relationships with regional banks, corporates, development finance institutions (DFIs), and investment houses.
Participate in client meetings, conferences, and seminars, preparing presentations and reports as required.
Maintain an in-depth knowledge of Afreximbank’s products, economic drivers, and regulatory environment.
Portfolio Monitoring & Risk Management:
Track and monitor the performance of credit portfolios, identifying and addressing any deviations or risks.
Assist in onboarding, KYC initiation/renewal, and account opening processes.
Ensure compliance with internal policies, industry regulations, and financial reporting standards.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Banking, Finance, or a related field.
Master’s degree in Business Administration, Banking, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a financial services or international organization.
Exposure to trade finance, project finance, syndications, or capital markets is an advantage.
Technical Skills & Knowledge:
Strong financial analysis, valuation, and risk assessment expertise.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Salesforce (or similar CRM tools).
Understanding of trade finance instruments (Letters of Credit, Bills of Exchange, Guarantees).
Experience in client onboarding, KYC assessments, and regulatory compliance.
Soft Skills:
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and French (Arabic is a plus).
Ability to manage multiple tasks and work under tight deadlines.
Detail-oriented, professional, and proactive approach.
Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.
