Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experiencedSenior Surveyorto join our team, specializing in providing precise and reliable surveying services for construction projects in swampy, wetland, and water logged environments.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in land surveying, geospatial data collection, and terrain analysis, particularly in challenging environments that require advanced surveying techniques and equipment.
As a Senior Surveyor, you will be responsible for overseeing survey operations, ensuring accurate measurement and mapping of construction sites, managing survey teams, and collaborating with engineers and project managers to ensure the success of construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
Surveying and Mapping:Lead surveying activities on construction sites, specifically in swampy, wetland, and waterlogged areas, ensuring accurate measurement and mapping of terrain, elevations, and boundaries.
Geospatial Data Collection:Collect, analyze, and interpret geospatial data using advanced surveying equipment such as GPS, total stations, and laser scanners, adapting techniques for unstable and challenging ground conditions.
Site Evaluation and Risk Assessment:Conduct detailed site evaluations to assess terrain, soil stability, and other environmental factors that may impact construction projects in wetland or swampy areas.
Survey Planning and Execution:Develop and execute survey plans tailored to construction projects, ensuring they align with engineering specifications and regulatory requirements.
Team Management:Supervise and mentor junior surveyors and field assistants, providing technical guidance and ensuring adherence to surveying standards and safety protocols.
Collaboration with Engineering Teams:Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to provide accurate survey data that informs project planning, design, and execution.
Topographical Surveys:Conduct topographical surveys and generate detailed maps, identifying land contours, water features, and potential challenges in swampy or waterlogged terrain.
Monitoring and Documentation:Monitor progress and quality of surveying work, ensuring that all data is accurately documented, maintained, and analyzed. Prepare detailed reports for clients and management.
Geotechnical Support:Work closely with geotechnical engineers to assist in assessing ground conditions, ensuring that survey data is integrated with soil and material testing for accurate project assessments.
Compliance with Regulations:Ensure all surveying activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations, environmental laws, and industry standards related to wetland and swamp construction.
Data Analysis and Reporting:Analyze survey data to identify any discrepancies or issues with the terrain, and provide recommendations to resolve them. Prepare and present clear reports, drawings, and data to project stakeholders.
Risk Mitigation:Identify and mitigate potential survey risks associated with unstable ground, flooding, and environmental hazards. Ensure that safety measures are followed during all surveying activities.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Surveying,Geospatial Science, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
Experience:Minimum of 10 years of experience as a Surveyor, with at least 5 years in a senior or leadership position, specifically in swampy, wetland, or waterlogged construction environments.
Surveying Expertise: Proficient in using surveying tools such asGPS,total stations,laser scanning equipment, and other advanced surveying technologies.
Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of environmental regulations and how they impact surveying practices in sensitive areas like wetlands and swamps.
Team Leadership: Proven experience leading and mentoring survey teams, managing field operations, and ensuring high standards of work.
Technical Skills: Expertise in using surveying software (e.g.,AutoCAD,Civil 3D,GIS) for data analysis, map generation, and reporting.
Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, particularly for assessing complex terrain and environmental challenges in construction sites.
Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders.
Preferred Skills:
Certification:Chartered Surveyor status or professional certifications such asRICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors)or similar.
Geotechnical Knowledge:Familiarity with geotechnical surveys and understanding the influence of soil conditions on construction projects in wetlands and swampy areas.
Advanced Surveying Techniques:Experience with advanced surveying methods such asLiDARscanning or3D modeling.
Environmental Sustainability:Experience working on projects with a focus on environmental sustainability and best practices in wetland or swamp construction.
Health and Safety Knowledge:Familiarity withhealth and safety regulationsrelevant to surveying in challenging environments.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including swampy, wetland, or waterlogged terrains.
Willingness to perform fieldwork, including hiking or walking across uneven or unstable ground, sometimes in remote locations.
