Job Summary
The General Manager is responsible for overseeing all hotel operations, ensuring exceptional guest satisfaction, and managing staff performance.
This role involves strategic planning, financial oversight, and maintaining high service standards to achieve the hotel's objectives.
The General Manager will work closely with department heads to optimize hotel operations, enhance profitability, and maintain a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee day-to-day hotel operations, ensuring seamless guest experiences and service excellence.
Supervise all department heads, ensuring operational efficiency, staff performance, and adherence to hotel policies.
Develop and implement strategies to maximize occupancy, revenue, and profitability while maintaining high service standards.
Handle guest relations, address complaints, and ensure exceptional customer satisfaction.
Monitor reservation systems, ensuring accuracy, timely confirmations, and proper record-keeping of guest preferences.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and legal regulations, including labor laws, food safety standards, and environmental policies.
Develop and implement staff training programs to enhance service delivery, leadership, and hospitality skills.
Maintain strong relationships with vendors, suppliers, and key business partners to ensure quality service, cost efficiency, and reliable supply chains.
Analyze guest feedback, online reviews, and operational reports to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
Manage hotel budgets, financial planning, and cost control measures to achieve profitability targets.
Ensure the hotel meets its brand standards and maintains a competitive position in the hospitality industry.
Lead marketing and promotional efforts in collaboration with the sales and marketing team to increase brand awareness and customer engagement.
Oversee crisis management procedures, ensuring staff is prepared for emergencies such as fires, medical incidents, or security threats.
Implement and oversee sustainability initiatives to align with corporate social responsibility goals.
Qualifications & Skills
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
Minimum 5-7years of experience in hotel management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role within a reputable hospitality establishment.
Proven experience in financial management, budgeting, and revenue optimization.
Strong understanding of hotel operations, including front office, housekeeping, food & beverage, and maintenance.
Experience in implementing guest service improvement strategies and handling high-profile clients.
Leadership & Management Skills:
Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate staff at all levels.
Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities, especially under pressure.
Ability to develop and implement long-term business strategies to enhance hotel growth and market positioning.
Experience in managing multicultural teams and fostering an inclusive workplace environment.
Customer Service & Communication Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (additional languages are an advantage).
Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills to handle guest complaints and maintain high satisfaction levels.
Ability to build strong relationships with clients, corporate partners, and key stakeholders.
Technical & Industry Knowledge:
Proficiency in hotel management software (PMS), reservation systems, and data analytics tools.
In-depth knowledge of hospitality industry trends, competitor analysis, and guest satisfaction metrics.
Familiarity with hospitality laws, licensing requirements, and labor regulations.
