Job Title: Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Supervisor
Location: Eket, Akwa Ibom
Job Summary
The HSE Supervisor (Health, Safety, and Environment Supervisor) will be responsible for maintaining a safe work environment by developing and implementing safety policies, conducting risk assessments, investigating incidents, providing employee safety training, and ensuring compliance with relevant health and safety regulations, all while promoting environmental awareness within an organization.
Key Responsibilities
Risk assessment and mitigation: Conducting thorough risk assessments to identify potential hazards in the workplace, developing preventive measures, and monitoring their effectiveness.
Policy development and implementation: Creating and enforcing company-wide safety policies and procedures, ensuring they are communicated clearly to all employees.
Safety training and awareness: Delivering regular safety training programs to employees on topics like hazard identification, emergency procedures, and proper use of safety equipment.
Workplace inspections and audits: Performing regular inspections of work areas to identify unsafe practices or conditions and conducting audits to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
Incident investigation: Investigating workplace accidents and near misses to determine root causes, implement corrective actions, and prevent future occurrences.
Emergency response preparedness: Developing and practicing emergency response plans, including drills and designated roles for emergency situations.
Reporting and documentation: Maintaining detailed records of safety incidents, near misses, inspections, training sessions, and other relevant data.
Compliance monitoring: Staying updated on relevant health and safety regulations and ensuring the company adheres to all applicable standards.
Communication and collaboration: Working closely with management, employees, and other departments to promote a strong safety culture and address safety concerns.
Key Requirements and Skills
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Health, and the Environment or related fields.
Minimum of 5-8 years of relevant industrial HSE experience.
Strong understanding of health and safety regulations and best practices
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively train and educate employees
Analytical skills to identify potential hazards and conduct risk assessments
Problem-solving abilities to address safety issues and implement corrective actions
Report writing and documentation skills to maintain accurate records
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Must possess Institute of Safety Professionals of Nigeria (ISPON) Certificate
Relevant certifications in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS)
Membership of other professional bodies is an added advantage
